His post is simply ranting. it ignores the FACT that the designers didn't WANT to put that stuff into the game...they could have, but they wanted something more PG than SC2.
He really should take his calm down pills more often!

Umm, sorry Stalinspecker, but I did not complain about your comment, perhaps you need some of those little blue up pills?

Oh and when someone involved with the game "vypuero" was acutally calling Targul a moron over at Matrix, that was an all time low for a game.

Never said you did, and which pills would those be? I yield to your superior pharmaceutical knowledge.

Well I can see the improvements to this game engine are getting along fine.
Since, it seems the developers are interested in a more PG type system, why not concentrate on the interaction of the various combat units.
You guys make sure the rock-paper-scissor effect work within the parameters of WW2 combat dynamics. Get a few more specialized units into the mix, like paratroopers.
Remember PG was about maneuver and combat, perfect the CEaW features in that capability first and then you can move on.
There will have to be another edition later in light of the code limitations, so get this first step perfected and stop grappling with the what ifs, SC can provide for that in the interim.
I would love to see a game engine that captures the true essence of the Blitzkrieg at this scale, that seems to be the real heart of this creation, concentrate on that accomplishment.

Wow Yohan, yes Targul - an incessent complainer - said he thought it was a bad idea to attack Denmark as the Axis, and I thought that not attacking Denmark was a rather moronic thing to do, or do you think that it is a wise move?
Is that not a valid statement to make, given his contention he is an experienced wargamer, not a beginner asking questions, whom I am always helpful to whenever possible? Come on, where do you get this? Lowpoint in wargaming? Where do you get that?

Yes VERY tame compared to what I wanted to call him!
Stalin - you playing any new games soon? New patch will be updated and out of beta soon I hope - we can start a game then maybe?

That's enough please. This forum is for discussing the game.

Will the save games from the v1.03 beta be possible to be used when the v1.03 final is launched?
The reason I ask is that I want to try the mod I'm making with Happycat with v1.03 Editor and start some test games. But if the beta phase is short and not compatible with v1.03 final then it's better to wait playtesting until after v1.03 final is launched.
I know v1.02 save games can't be used in v1.03. So my question is only about compatibility between v1.03 beta and v1.03 final.

Its hard to say for sure - if bugs are found that require changes that effect the saved game format to change then yes, but if not then the saved game format will not change.
We've not had much feedback so far so we'll probably give it a little longer

That's fine. I look forward to test the new version when I get home.
If you look at the history, was v1.02 beta and v1.02 final compatible with each other?

We had lots of internal 1.02 versions and they were not compatible so it looks likely saved games will change I'm afraid.

Yes I think its best not to play any games with a person using the beta - beta is just to look it over, see if any bugs there, etc

I tried setting v1.03 up in a seperate file (commander europe at war v 103) so that i'd have both configurations, but the update file would only update to the original Commander Europe at war directory. Has anyone else been able to set up two game directories? If so, how did you get the installer to install to a different directory?
Thanks,
Boerwar

Yeah just redirect where the update points to - you can browse at some point and choose another directory. I am 100% sure of it because I have 2 installs of the game myself and it works fine. Heck, you can actually even run two games at once if you want to and have a decent processor.

Yes, and from the latest patch you can set windowed mode as default startup so you can actually if running higher resolution than 1024x768 start up CEaW from and remain in windows desktop seing the taskbar and do other stuff in between and still see parts of the CEaW screen. For example, chatting on MSN or whatever while waiting for opponents or AI turn
