Pre-Turn

Image

Still winter all over Europe. Almost no movement on Allied side. British CV back to 10 steps, our SUBs keep waiting for her. Bad air combat results. Morris gets a total 4:2 in two air battles in his turn. Seems we have to repair and slow down a little.

Image

We killed a second French MECH and a GAR was forced to retreat. Rest of the army is repairing and waiting for fair weather. Without Air support we were not able to attack on the western wing this turn.

Image

Mission almost accomplished...

and casulties.

Not much fighting this turn. Just some bombing and unloading of troops. The British SUB is were we assumed it to be. Additional troops are in the transporters. No signs of RAF this turn!
In France only the defenders of Paris are left, well let them enjoy their time a little longer. We are busy in England!

Image

Almost at Marseilles...

Image

Casablanca liberated from their colonial power!

Image

The three BBs of the homefleet are sunken, last capital ship remaining should be the CV trapped in London harbor.

Not bad :D. You should be able to activate Spain AND conquer GB. Nice start for Fortress Europe.

Turn 14 | Seelöwe

Pre-Turn:

Image

Summer arrived in Russia.
Heavy losses for our Fallschirmjäger. It seems the English CV is sunk by suicide a attack in the Allied turn. Air battles: 5 German FTR steps against 3 English this round.

Image

After move: One English INF destroyed as well as the French DD sunk. Nevertheless we don't gain much ground and deside to launch a second invasion west of Southampton.

Image

Some reinforcements on the way to North Africa.

Image

Welcome Italy!

Image

Losses.

Image

And some statistics on losses.

@Cybvep: Yes, that is the plan!

Turn 15 | Seelöwe

Pre-Turn

Image

No counterattacks this turn. Morris is trying to secure the Beaches against our second landing attempts.

Image

Some movement in the MED. We will try to sink those French BBs.

Image

After turn.
We have problems gaining ground. ZOC is preventing us from getting additional hexes to attack either Southampton or London ... A Bad situation!

Image

One French BB sunken, the second one has no chance to escape.

Image

Situation in Lybia still quiet.

Pre-Turn:

Image

Our Bridgehead over River Thame was killed, but at least the air battle was won this turn, 4:3 !

Image

Almost captured Southamton, lets hope the additional tank will clear the situation in the next turn!

Image

Some reinforcement reach Casablanca. The SUB is waiting for Morris MED-fleet, we are guessing he has to bring some ships here to get his convois back to 100%.

Image

Second French BB still swimming...

Image

...

Turn 17 | Seelöwe & Atlantik

Pre-Turn:

Image

Morris is retreating! It can be assumed that he was close to the minimum-unit-limit in England.

Image

Some last French GARs moving to Africa.

Nach dem Zug:
Image

Finally Southamton! And almost Birmingham... Maybe London falls next turn.

Image

Second French BB sunk.

Image

A lonely British DD was found in the Atlantic...

Image

And the assumed MED-fleet arrives. The SUB damages Morris CV.

Morris pulls back further.

Image

British DD is trying to escape...

Image

Morris stays and decides to fight here ...

Allied SUBs badger Regia Marina.

and after Turn
Image

Paris, London & Birmingham captured this turn. Western Allies knocked out for a while!

Image

British DD hunted down.

Image

And some more torpedoes for the expensive British CV !

Image

We use the moment of knowing where Allied SUBs are to get the Italian Tank to Africa!

Image

Lots of decisions and informations this turn ...

...

Turn 19 | England, Atlantic and Med

Pre-Turn

Image

Not knowing that the voluntary French will spawn even after the fall of London, Morris gets a free attack on the FTR :/ Damn!

Image

Convoys changing direction...

Image

British CV seems to escape to Basra !

After-turn.
Image

On to Northern England and Free French killed.

And something maybe to be changed for GS2.2:

The Free French in Maginot-line and Strassbourg loose their fortification after the fall of Paris, making it easy to capture the city in this turn... (what here just happened)

Image

Convoy hunting in the Atlantic.

Image

On to Oran!

Image

And the invasion near Tunis will start next turn!

Image

After Second Wiener Diktat German troops get ready to pacify the Balkans... (what a crazy message :D )

Image

and like always ... casualties.

It looks like Morris is struggling in this game. Won't be easy to keep Spain out of the war. I wonder how the Royal Navy managed to get destroyed so easily. Sometimes I think it's better to accept you can't fend off Sealion and run away with the surface ships to fight another day.

It will be interesting to see if we get a 1941 Barbarossa in this game or a fortress Europe instead.

Sacrificing these French naval units was a big mistake IMO. Morris achieved absolutely nothing by doing this.

Turn 20 | England, Atlantic and Med

Pre-Turn

Image

Morris retreats from Cardiff to save his GAR. Are we close to the Unit-minimum yet?

Image

Some fleet movements to be investigated...

Image

And some news...

After turn
Image

England and Wales almost completely cleaned, Scottland to follow.

Image

In-Turn picture. Two convoys and heavy DD cover spotted.

Image

Bismarck & Holstein with help of some SUBs sink the next (Canadian) DD. Looks like Axis is able to rule the Atlantic for a while...

Image

Italian Bomber on its way to NA.

Image

Oran in sight!

Image

And invasions near Tunis started. Again reinforcements rushed to Lybia as Allied SUBs show there positions.

Image

And Operation peace to the Balkans just rolling towards Belgrad. German INF divisions railed in. Lets hope for at least one fair weather turn in October!

Image

and casualties, filled up with another Allied surface-ship.

Great stuff. That's looking really good. Enjoy it while you can - Morris insists that the Axis can't win against a good quality opponent :D . Although like Cybvep I am finding some of his moves very strange. Excellent AAR btw.

There is a possibility that other players are even better than Morris. :) Hu is showing that he's very good with his strategy. He managed to succeed with Sealion against very stiff opposition by Morris. He seems to soon get Spain and that means Gibraltar will fall too.

So far I think the Axis have the initiative. Morris will have to conjure up some tricks to win this game. I haven't seen a single blunder by Hu so far in this game so it's not like Morris can expect to get any "presents". He will have to earn his victory by clever play.

this game has a very long way to go, with lots of questions unanswered

Barbarossa or not

Scotland and Ireland captured in good time?

enough oil or not?

Russia will be the key - as always, Hu has done very well but the big stuff hasn't really started

If you capture Irleand and Scapa Flow in 1941 together with Iraq which is not a difficult task then this game is basically won. Allies without a strong foothold in Europe will be very easy to fend off even by minor Axis forces. All power of Wehrmacht can easily handle USSR troops, their PPs will be even but German tech will be higher.

I am wodering if Morris will find a way to change the tides.

I don't think its that easy to accomplish all three and even then you are looking at a 42 attack on Russia

the key is to clear the Brits out of UK and get the oil - not that easy against a good player, its Sept already and Morris is likely hiding a GAR concentration around Scapa

also oil is key and there is a lot to do before any new sources are captured, don't get me wrong Hu has the advantage but its still a long way to go
