Surely not - you don;t have to index every word, you only index the important words.
So when you click on (Say) 'Rear Support' in the index, it jumps you to the bit of the rules which defines it (I don't know if it is still hidden away in the Glossary like to was in v1)

Hi guys
could you clarify a few points?
* Batesmotel - what do you mean by "Change bars or some other indication from the previous edition(s) of the rules."
* NickW - not sure what this i for? " a back/return button"
* NickW what exactly do you mean by this? "hyperlinks from reference section into relevant part of rules"
* NickW can you give an example of this "hyperlinks within the main body of the rules, where you would logically be looking for information across different sections (which the rules often require)."
Thanks!

Iain,
In technical documents, change bars (a solid line in the margin next to lines where changes have been made) are used to indicate the modifications in the document. This makes it much simpler to understand what is different from a previous version of the document. Change bars may not be the best graphic representation to use for the electronic format but some indication makes it much easier for users of previous versions of the rules to pick up and understand the changes. In the beta PDF versions of the rules, modified text was printed in a different color to serve the same function.
I would really prefer not to have read the rules cover to cover every time they are updated and then have to try to puzzle out every place where wording has changed. An indication of where changes have been made will greatly simplify the process of understanding what has been updated.
Chris

Well, if it were possible to get actual text in the file format instead of an image of text, they could have given you a button to hi-light the changed sections/wordings. I really think Slitherine might be well advised to sit down and do a rethink on their whole concept here, though.

In all sets of rules when checking something you often need to flick from one page to another as everything is not in the same section. When you do it with this app you can't go back to the page you were just on. You need to navigate your way back to it again, which is annoying. An example might be moving from the cohesion test section into the glossary or troop definitions to see what are classified as shock or light troops, finding out and then going back to it. Hyperlinks would help with this too.
Similarly, hyperlinks from the QRS into the relevant section of the rules, so you can read the detail, and then go back to the QRS.
Bookmarks would help with this too.

I have spoken to some German players, and what we miss is:
- For the iPAD-version the easy possibility to enlarge the pages by spreading the fingers over it (which is working in nearly every iPAD-App)
Sometimes the letters are really small and hard to read.
- For the PC-version: The page is to long for some screena (I have a resolution of 1600x1050 and it nearly fits on it), so you have to scroll on each and every page, especially when running on a laptop with a laptop-screen. There is no chance to maximise the windows and to enlarge the text if needed.
This was the first feedback I got

I use Linux on my desktop computer, and Android on my tablet (Nexus 7). I'd like to be able to buy and read the FoG v2 rules on either (or both).

Yes, I would appreciate it if it was available in a format I could read too. I do not own an iPad and have no plans to do so. And this "PC version" does not seem to be available on the website - when I go to that item page, I am told "this item is not available for purchase" or some such. Even if it did, I would not like to lug my laptop to every gaming session and have it lurking on the corner of the table with all the accompanying annoyances (have to find a power plug for a 3-hour game, be careful not to knock it over or have it take up table space, et cetera).
I do own a Kindle Fire and would like it very much if it were available on the Amazon kindle store. I hear it's pretty straightforward to make a book available for purchase there.

FWIW, a Kindle version would work for me, as well, on both my desktop PC (Linux) and my tablet (Android/Nexus 7) via the Kindle Cloud Reader and the Android Kindle app, respectively.

I have the 2.03 Reader on a Windows 8 Laptop.
1) The rules come in one size, I wish it were scalable for my tired old eyes.
2) Since this is v2 I would like if those rules altered from v1 would be highlighted. I do not like reading through whole sections to find there are no changes from v1.
3) Have a section in the end with printable charts. I cannot bring my laptop to games, but Charts would be great.
Thanks,
Uncle Meat

A PDF version of the rules: for those of us customers who are late to the game and want to purchase copies of books that are, apparently, out of print.

The books are't out of print, you can buy them via the website, as unless my memory is failing me they are using a print on demand system
cheers

The core rules are available, but the army books are not. I've looked on a number of 3rd party websites and they don't have all of the army books in stock. Amazon has them, but at twice the listed value, which is typical Amazon b.s. when a book is out of print and unavailable to distributors. Regardless, if they were available as PDFs, this would be a non-issue.

Again, the product is Out of Stock. I don't know what a reprinting schedule is on a wargame supplement, but I am pretty sure it is not very often. Having it available in PDF would alleviate the issue.

Some of the supplement books at Osprey are out-of-stock, but not all. I think about 4 out of 13 or so.
I would also like the Kindle compatible version.

We are changing some major parts of the app and should have something out by June. If it works it might be possible to roll out the other army books. We're trying to change the base format to make it easier to port from PDF and update.

This seems like great news!

Please release more of the army books too! Even better if you can update them...
