Donnington. The 30yr war range has been remastered , so are crisp right now... Bit too much flash for my liking, but jolly.

You , of course, have to navigate the horrendous website ...

Is it the Army Painter coloured primer?

Yup yellow primer. I'm not sure if I'd recommend it... But then you'd have to be mad to paint an army that is predominately yellow

1 regiment sure... Should have just stuck to a dour German outfit

why thank you, Don. There isn't as many as you think. I want to do them 4 a base ... (nothing in short measures)

I know you think I'm joining the dark side, but entry into the Oxford competiton somewhat forced my hand!

thanks
Simon

4 to a base - that is profligate!! At my speed of painting, it would take me AGES (yes even simple armoured cavalry on brown ink washed horses).

If this army is on the "Dark Side", then I'm already there as I used Later Imperial Spanish at Warfare last year (mmainly because I liked the Flags and no-one till that point had used the Spanish). Handy to have Elite and also to detach shot!! (plus some nice Superior Heavily Armed Pis,Pist - only 3 BG's if I recall correctly!!

Good luck to you.

Don

Why is the Later Imperial Spanish considered "dark side"? It is the first time I heard about FOGR having a dark side, whatever it means... does it mean an unbalanced army? I have used it and regard it as a good army, but no better than other ones.

Not the army... I just have an aversion to using cavalry, of which this army had some (reasonable ones at that)

I like PBI :-)

Stone the flippin' crows. It's taken me two weeks just to paint 16 Spartans for god's sake. I know I'm slow, now it appears i'm positively glacial!

Very nice. To have painted them to that standard in the time is amazing. Would you consider doing a step-by step guide?

Painting them in 15 days is amazing.

Painting them in 30 hours is mind-boggling.

I have amazed myself by painting 10 BGs in 4 weeks, but it has taken me 60-70 hours to achieve decent but much less impressive results, and there are less figures per BG (apart from my dragoons - that's a bit cheap isn't it Simon, 2 figures per base?).

A step-by-step guide would be much appreciated.

The only army I've ever painted that quick was my WW2 Finnish Snow troops in winter camoflage!!

Its just for the aesthetic, I like all my foot 4 to base... and the dragoons 'looser'. I always start with more on the dragoons base, but take them off for being too crowded.

It the reason I nearly got a another Tercio out of the figures!

Maybe... I've got another non-spanish BG to do for Derby, but that will slow me down!

its all about production line , cheats and shortcuts!
