They are much improved by V2.
Protected foot archers with a LS are pretty awesome now. A whole lot of changes work in their favour.
The elephants who failed so often in my preparation games had a more mixed comp but overall helped the army deal with some problems it couldn't otherwise handle.
Was interesting to see the V2 changes in action with a wide range of armies

Cheers Martin. Good to hear that at least some average protected shooty types are now viable.
Well done on the surprising army selection, I thought things like LBow, Immortals, Jannisaries and the armoured Han XBow would get a fair bit better, but Ming.
I have no doubt though, that as before we will see a roundabout of troops types coming to the fore as 'the best' whilst people get used to and exploit the changes.
