Hey Enric, Update sounds great. Really like the idea of random starts and mortars that can move one square per turn. Nice job! Will look for it over the weekend.

I'm still waiting for more feedback, the version seems ok. Probably on the week end I will post the version.

The news are:
- Some more units on both sides.
- Random deployement of the front line units (both sides), to avoid blind fire on the first turn.
- Mortars can move by itself (only on tile)
- Some changes on the map.
This is a difficult task for the US, the German must keep only one flag to win when scenario ends.
Please let me know your opinion and balance.

Thanks for the mortar movement. I appreciate that one! Will have to look over your script on that one.

Hey Enric, Great scenario. Downloading now. Couple of questions: What's the squads.csv file? Does this actually do anything in BA? Or is it just for info? There is a goldmine of unit stats in there! Where's the code that you've used to enable single square movement for mortar platoons? Do you mind if I borrow that for the next update to Meeting Engagement Fast N Sneaky? Nice job on this one... Looking forward to playing! GL88

Hey GL88, the squads.csv if a vital file because it contains the modifications that make the US and German mortar move one tile.
You can use it in any scenario (at your own risk

) and the mortars will walk.
To modify this file (squads) you need an app. like Excel, but it's very annoying dealing with so many columns and rows, I've made a utility that allows easily modify and save a copy of a .csv file. It's made for Mac only and I've no problem to share.

OMG that's the holy grail, Enric... you mean we can modify any of the values in the squads.csv worksheet to change the dynamics of those units??!! Wow!! really smart of you to figure that out. thanks for sharing... will definitely adopt your csv sheet for the next Fast N Sneaky update... is there anything to change anywhere else? or BA just reads squads.csv and gets on with the job? i'd love a copy of your Mac app pls. will pm you my personal email.

Hope that a PC version becomes available. Sounds like it would be easy to build using Visual Basic but I do not own that one.

It's made in Real Basic (Real Studio)

In fact I can compile for Windows and Linux but as I can not debug on those platforms… I do not know what would happens.

(GL88) is there anything to change anywhere else? or BA just reads squads.csv and gets on with the job?
Well, Pip is the expert, I'm just a novice, and there is a lack of documentation so I'm just trying to understand.
I deduced that, if in a campaign folder you put a squads.csv file, that file prevail over the squads file used in general by BA.
Modifying values (attributes) of units you can change its behavior but there is not documentation on these attributes, so you must deduct.
Others unit's behavior can be controlled by scripting...

I extracted the folders into my download folder. I navigate to the Squad Editor.rpb folder and run the Squad Editor.rpb
When I click Search, I get this error:
An exception of class NilObjectException was not handled. The application must shut down.

Yes, this a know bug, you can not search inside a file that you have not previously loaded!!.
Think that I just made by my own use, so I never search for a unit if I've not loaded the squads.csv where I want to search
Anyway, I will make a new version where the search is not activate until you load a file.

There is a help, little but must read.
The app works as this:
You load a squads.csv file, by using
Open as you do using Open Office, Word, etc. The file could be anywhere you can reach by the navigation system of Windows, MacOS or Linux.
When the file is loaded you see the units list of in the file loaded, then you can search for one or some units, if you write "Sher" and hit return (search) you will get a list of every unit with "Sher" in his name.
When you select a unit from the list you see, in another list, all attributes and values of the selected unit.
You can modify any value of that list, clicking on the value, the cursor should change an allow you to modify the value directly in the list.
When you have modified everything, you can Save the new file, you can Save anywhere and with any name, if you plan to use in a campaign you should save as Squads.csv and place in the appropriate folder.
About
compare units, you can investigate discover its uses easely, this do not affects the original or saved file.

That still did not work. Since I have to run the game in Wine, I could use the windows version. Thanks for trying.
