Quick and dirty stats I threw together for such a unit.
Cheaper than tanks at 370, nice hard attack at 18, good durability with 8 ground defense(and more importantly made it a SOFT target not a HARD target), but with somehow low fuel and ammo capacity (52/5) and extreme vulnerability to enemy infantry(4 soft attack/0 close defense)
My suggestion:

Code: Select all

74	SdKfz 251/22	3	240	4	75	6	1	0	4	5	14	-1	0	3	6	1	1	0	SdKfz 251/22.png	15.11.1942	1.1.1946	1 fixedt
Movement and defense stats taken from standard 251/1 ground transport unit (same basic vehicle, same armour, same engine, fuel capacity etc) and the attack stats from the towed 7.5 cm PaK gun + 1 extra SA for the machinegun and passive AA of 1.

Initiative put at 4, below Marders and StuGs but above PzJager I.

Lower price compared to other tank destroyers of the period should make it an attractive purchase option.

Looks like the 88 was what they used to make the unit. 88mm Mobile Death Pak.

The idea of a mobile 88mm SdKfz 251 in Ambush rocking and rolling with the recoil and muzzle blast of an 88mm is something I would love to see, especially as it's front end lifts from the ground and the back end squats. Wonder how well the welding seams would hold up?

There is no practical nor theoretical way a 8,8 could have been physically been mounted on a SdKfz 251 in any way as the chassis simply would not be able to deal with the guns weight of over 5 tons not even mentioning fireing the gun...the Sdkfz 251 weight was 7,4 t with a payload of 1,1 t so the mounted 7,5cm Pak in Dec1944 with 1.4 t was already bringing the chassis to its limit.

Here's what I use for good results:

1538 Sdkfz 251/22 3 337 5 65 5 1 0 9 1 13 0 1 2 3 1 0 0

A fast moving AT.

No way should it be a transport class.

Here are some rough Pak 75's on SdKfz 251's. Churchy promised to make a "grey" version for me but he hasn't gotten around to doing it yet. I made this one from the icon he put on the forum. Rough, but maybe serviceable to some of you.
