Yup, I do it frequently. Also use them often to knock out AA guns protected by multiple artillery that my ground forces are still advancing on. (Might take a point or 3 damage, but between surpression and loss of ammo, the AA gun is usually silenced pretty quickly and destroyed by a follow-up stuka attack)

I thought the same as you that strategic bombers were useless. In the original PG I only used them as they diminished the allies prestige points and therefore their ability to purchase more units to fight against me. As far as I can see this is no longer the case in Panzercorps. However they are very important to have within your core for two reasons. One the ability to neutralize cities out of reach from your troops so the city can no longer spawn additional troops but mostly importantly their ability to destroy naval units. This is vital in the Stalingrad Docks, Narvik, Dunkirk and Crete scenarios where a good fully starred up strategic bomber can completely destroy a naval unit in one go. I have three in my core which I use in various ways or not at all dependent on each scenario.

Strat bombers seem useless at first but they do have many uses. Try a few and I think you will change your mind.

Actually level bombers can still reduce prestige when attacking cities. I'm not sure how it works, but I've seen the combat log show it reducing prestige. It's usually something like 20-30, a very small amount though, and it doesn't always occur.

Prestige loss only happens when Strategic Bombers attack Victory Hex Cities.

strategic bombers are great when you want to silence strong enemy artilery, or some dug in elite enemy unit. Also vs ships they "pwn"
