Ugh. I was afraid of that. Nothing better after a hard day's gaming then coming back to an 80 degree hotel room with a window that only opens 2". Maybe given that this is Manchester I can find somebody who's willing to smash in my window in exchange for all of my stuff.

IIR, it was only 70 something in Manchester, but about 80 in my room. Unfortunately the same security mechanisms designed to keep the prowlers out also did a bang-up job of keeping the stagnant air in.

It seems, however, that there are in fact hotels with AC in Manchester. Quite reasonably priced, too.

According to the google map its on London Rd due east of the student union and just south of Picadilly. In fact, it appears to be closer to the union than the Day's Inn is.

The main problem with these places (and why they are so cheap) is parking. But I guess that isn't an issue for yourself.

Thanks. I'll check there as well. Their website didn't mention AC but it might well not mention it.

I'd drop them a line and check, but I'm pretty certain the room I had when I stayed there for work a year or so back did - but you know what memory is like

I heard Britcon was a "residential comp" - does this include a "decent" hotel option or do we have to book this separately (at an additional cost)?

Britcon is residential, or at least always has been and I'd assume was still going to be this year unless the new team say otherwise. The accommodation is basic, think student accommodation - however, you spend very little time in it.

Why I live there, can't think of any hotels mind their might be a dogey B and B though. The last sign i saw £20 a night at the Saluation pub near Oxford road (above a pub might suit some)
