A cunning strategy. Make your army so pretty your opponent forgets he is supposed to destroy it.

HereWeGo, just beautiful and thanks for sharing! I've incorporated your 3D basing with clay bluffs for my Pontic army and it's turning out very nicely. I must confess that while my painting I'll never be able to freehand an eagle catching a snake on a 15mm banner! I'll have to be satisfied with nice basing!

This is excellent work - the basing really brings the figures to life.

There's no blood on those pikes... oh, wait, they're Xyston pikes... just wait a game or 2.

*explanation for English*

Xyston pikes are so sharp that even though you didn't put blood on the pikes, in a game or two you'll end up with blood on your pikes - real human blood :)

Those are great results! I learn a lot from your basing techniques and the combination you make of the MiniNatur is fantastic.

I think that you could get fantastic results if you decide to go for a double base with these 1st rank guys from Warmodelling. The Xyston ones lack a little bit of movement. It would be a perfect diorama given your basing.

As a belated thought on the puddles on the bases, if you continue to do them I would try to make them complete on a base rather than a partial puddle cut off at the edge. I think that contributed a lot to them looking odd especially in the less close up photos and would tend to look odd on the table without having bases carefully positioned to form a complete puddle. If you had a rock formation with a flat side at a base edge where it was arbitrarily cut offit would look similarly odd although still be more apparent that it is a rock formation.

Now i understand. Yes, those bits should be puddles :D
Yes, the close up pictures do them justice. I'm edging towards them not being 'quite right' though. It doesn't QUITE do it for me. Maybe (not sure) if you put some reeds propping through the puddle (like a marsh) and a slightly different colour and it would be perfect.

Please, don't consider this anything but friendly advise. I think they are absolutely beautiful models.
No problem. I am not very pleased with the puddles too. I will omit them in the army or make them darker. But on the Thracian bases that was a test for me how they look like :D

Put some reeds around them is a nice idea. I will try that. Thanks for very good advises :D
