Don't know if it fits in here :

Another "hot" candidate for ruined franchises is (IMHO) Diablo 3 !

No attribute management, no skill management, no runewords, online game ONLY.

Players will have almost none influence over their characters !

So why play that game at all ?

There was a considerable large period, since the end of the Golden Age of Amiga until 2000, that I almost stop playing computer games. The addiction came again with Diablo II. So while I didn't care about Starcraft, with Diablo III it's another matter.
I've not reading much about it in order not to get hype or disappointed. I doubt it will end up being only an online game, but if that's the case, than yes, it will be one more ruined franchise.

I'm sure Kerensky has a word on this.

Sadly, VPaulus you can be assured !

Online Multiplayer on BNET as before.
No multi-player over networks.
SP (single player) only ONLINE !

Unless a wonder happens, that's what we will get at the start of next year (presumably)

What does that means? From what I've heard you can completely play SP without the need of MP?
I hate all this kind of nuisance of having to be online, but with certain aspects of it I can live with.

I've heard. The quality of some Paradox tiles are not great. Let us hope that this redeems Syndicate's heritage.

Yes some of there titles are quite ambitious and need lots of patching up (or even expansions) after release, before they reach a workable state. I was a big fan of Hearts of Iron 2 (now arsenal of democracy) but stayed away from version 3 after hearing about the AI trouble. Seems like they bit off more than they could chew. There hardly alone amongst game developers in that respect unfortunately.

To play the SP game you need to be online. No net connection, no SP play.

Yep, your SP chars are stored on BNET servers.

That sounds like Ubisoft's protection scheme.
Hmmm. I've to think if I'm going to buy it after all.

Sigh.

Yet another instance where nothing is gained except making legal customers jumping through hoops and justifying the illegal simpler alternatives... :(

It makes sense.
Well, I guess, that I won't buy Diablo III, then.
