I can't see why that would not work. If it doesn't we'd need to fix it so it does!

Glad to hear it...for a bit I was thinking I was goign mad and reading it as "no saves will be compatable with the 41 beta!"

Right that does mean you need to get the 39/40 DLC released ASAP so I can buy it and get through the whole lot quickly to be ready for the 41 Beta  (assuming of course I'm accepted on to that one too!)

Hmm, speaking of starting with a later campaign with a preconstructed core - in the last beta I started DLC40 but didn't like the units I started with and only 2 slots for customization. It would be nice to have the option to either construct your core or at least to disband/rebuy to get the distribution you'd like. As it stands you don't have a chance to do that until the second scenario.

Why cant you do it at the deploy stage for mission 1?

There is no deployment phase in any first mission in a campaign - you go straight in with what you're given.

Ok that's probably something we need to look at.

When I redo my Red Dawn campaign I am going to have a very short mission 1 that almost immediately will go into mission 2, where the player will be given prestige to build an army worthy of Mordor. However, this is not ideal, IMO, and the ability to create a core of a player's choice from the start would be better.

It might not be ideal, but it's nonetheless a good idea for the campaign makers.

Yeah, it's just a one-turn scenario where all victory conditions lead to the same next scenario (and are all called 'US Victory'!).

Allowing a player to choose and deploy their core in the 1st scenario of campaign is a good idea but you also have to make sure its not too overwhelming for a brand new player....so perhaps an options to go with standard starrt ort custom?

That's what I am doing, actually - the end of mission 1 brings up a choice dialog and the player chooses to go to the same map but chooses whether to have a deployed core or one they build themselves.
