And at said tourney I believe that a player did turn up without his toys and have to purchase them from a trader just prior to the first game... but he was not first loser...

It's funny you should mention this, but I discussed this at length with said trader. He reckoned it might be a good business opportunity to "hire" terrain for a weekend or possibly on a game by game basis....
Has this country completely gone to the dogs?

But roads are exceptionally useful in FoG. Especially when you put them down first hence blocking off one side edge.

I seem to recall an instance of Hazlebark cutting his terrain out of raw felt as we were rolling the dice...

IIRC I had flown in and luggage had waylaid my terrain and i bought some at the thrift shop the night before. And some Boston lawyer who was about to be SPANKED in Austin complained that in my drunken scissoring the night before I had mis measured by 1/10th of an inch. So i lopped off a full inch to make said Boston litigator happy.

But roads are exceptionally useful in FoG. Especially when you put them down first hence blocking off one side edge.

That's funny, I seem to recall you cutting the pieces down so they could fit in the available space...

I believe it is a highly historical instance to put a river and road down both flanks of the Battlefield. A historical tactic that I followed in every one of my games that I had PBI (five out of six I think).
One of my opponents lost all four of his terrain pieces. I believe he may even have said a bad word.

Thank goodness I found this post. I was getting a bit worried that I had not hear Dave whinge about anything for over a week!
In the late period one of the players wandered over and bought his army at abot 5pm!!
