Im new to the fog ren tourney scene too... .Ive been sent on a 'learn the rules' mission by my mate so we can get to grips with the rules and make sure we are playing it right!

My parliament army is looking like a poor choice considering theres no other parliament armies at the tourney!.

gonna be a loooooong weekend for my poor foot!

It might not be as bad as you think. Provided you have gone for the DH and Commanded shot, it is a competent army and quite forgiving.

I think the most interesting game will be Alasdair v Ben. Alasdair has a habit of going Mounted heavy. Will thety stand up to good quality foot?

Who is offering the odds on the winner?

It will be how they do against others that matters, their game result is likely to be drawish depending on what point they meet at.

You have to learn somehow. Just take notes and ask for advice.

Actually, going for lots of foot regiments might not be a bad thing - you should have plenty of BGs so fairly resilient and the horse heavy armies will not like facing all those pikey/shooty things.

Just try to avoid being charged by Swedes, French or Swiss. Our practise game should help you with the latter.

I'd say I'd be gentle with you, but Swiss only do hard and relentless.

See you tomorrow,

lol

'hard and relentless'....oh my..... its starting sound like a different weekend than I expected! and thats only the practice game!

Can I apologise now for my lack of ability which may slow peoples games against me a little, but ask that noone takes it easy on me at all...... bring it on I say!

really looking forward to this...just hope I can find the place...terrible with directions!

see you tomorrow!

So, what was the outcome?

Looking at the Runners and Riders, it looks like Western Europe post 1630 is the thing, with a few outlyers. Curious to know the result.

1 Alasdair Later Imperial Austrian (mounted version)
2 Hunter Later Danish (I think)
3 Jonathan ECW Parliamentarian (not a total crap army in the hands of a good player)

I came around 7th or 8th, just behind the other Swiss, thereby losing both the Central London and 16th century titles!

Nice to see something a little earlier win. What does a mounted version of Later Imperial Austrian look like (approximately)?

Hope I am not being immodest but I think that as they presented me the trophy for second place i thought that I was second and not Hunter Hope. Unless of course they did a recount after I left. My clubmate Hunter did however put up a great effort and was I think 5th and would have been higher had he not been given a good seeing to by Alasdair but then so was everyone else including me.

Sorry John, must have misheard the result of Hunter's final game.
would have been higher had he not been given a good seeing to by Alasdair but then so was everyone else including me.
As I didn't play Alasdair this year I resemble the implication that he gave me 'a good seeing to'!

That's very interesting. Looking at that list I'd be thinking how many keils can I afford. I like this.

LH with carbine is interesting too.
