Nice. Always good to see. I don't believe the Caucasian States can have LF in groups of 4 though, I guess those are meant to be 6s?madaxeman wrote:A tremendous weekend with a scratch army - army lists already posted on my site.
That's hilarious.Delbruck wrote:The Dagestani list from the Madaxeman:

I guess they won by pretending to be Swedes
BTW, the bow armed amoured must be cavalry, not horse.Delbruck wrote:Dagestani Caucasian States

The bow armed were cavalry and there were no Swedes of any sort involved, it was extremely fun to play, I suppose the major advantage is just the manouvreabilty of the army allowing you to put a lot of pressure whereever you wanted, it isn't particularly balanced and would suffer against massed pike and shot, though to be fair I didn't fight any of those at the weekend. To win with mounted I think you need to be flexible as possible as in a straight fight you will normally lose to pike and shot, you need to use your speed as much as possible, which means only closing within 6 inches (ie you lose your ability to march move) when you are going to commit to combat, always put your generals in if you need to win a combat (yes I do lose a few) and also accept loses to ty up the rest of the enemy army whilst you win somewhere else.Delbruck wrote:BTW, the bow armed amoured must be cavalry, not horse.Delbruck wrote:Dagestani Caucasian States

Excellent weekend but you missed off one player - my son Thomas Young at his first tournament! We didn't do too well though we was sooo close to destroying one of those Swiss keils. We stayed at the Doghouse Inn which now seems quite appropriate....Delbruck wrote:5 Alasdair Harley 6 12 9 23 3 23 8 22 80 Dagestan 1630

Having invested about $3,000 in making the range, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for this tip!quackstheking wrote:I'm sure the official results will be posted soon. Just a tip - don't all rush out to buy a Dagestani Army (even if Khurasanian produce the figures). It's not a "super Army" - just another pile of crud in the hands of a bloody good FOGR player!
