Appendix C: Geography
Under these rules, owning territory contributes a specific benefit to the owning player. Said benefit is not enough so that players without it are crippled and cannot compete; however they are significant.
Before each game, consult the following table. Each player gets the benefit of territory he owns and can apply them before the game:
Territory Type Benefit
Agricultural +25 points to a players’ base army size for every Agricultural territory owned.
Developed For every Developed territory, one Mob, Light Foot, or Medium Foot BG is increased in size by one base for free. OR (if using the Legendary Units rules) the player may field one additional Legendary unit per Developed territory they control.
Hilly (still working on this)
Woodland One BG with a Shooting capability may have its Quality rating increased by one notch.
Mountains One BG may improve its Armor rating by one level.
Steppes For every Steppes territory owned, one Cavalry or Light Horse BG is increased in size by one base for free.
Tropical One BG of Elephants or Light Foot may add one additional base for free.
Desert One BG of Camelry or Light Foot may add one additional base for free
Note that these benefits may not increase a BG’s size beyond the normal maximum number of bases allowed for its type. Also, a BG may receive only one benefit from this table per game. Example: a player with both a Steppe and a Mountain territory may not both increase the size of a Cavalry unit and upgrade that same unit’s armor.
Players may “under-buy” a BG’s size in anticipation of gaining a territory benefit. Example: A Later Seleucid player can field Elephants in BGs of two bases. If he has a Tropical territory, he can buy a BG of one base of Elephants, knowing that the Tropical territory will bump the BG up to 2 bases and therefore make it a legal BG.
