I'd like to participate, but will only play the RoR games.

Thanks Archie!

Is it possible to accept scenario challenges posted by others? If so then that would allow you to play any scenario. Or am I thinking of Lysimachos and his custom scenarios.

Hmm, good question, if no howver, what could be done is a player you owns the 'official' scenario could copy and paste that scenario into their custom game folder, I belive a couple of file headers need to be changed/renamed and then you could issue the challenge as a custom scenario to the player who doesnt own that expansion....

Have you already thought about the system with wich you'll assign points to the player at the end of a paired game?

A suggestion may be the following:
8 pts. 2 victories
6 pts. 1 victory 1 draw
5 pts. 1 victory 1 defeat (with better BG difference)
4 pts. 2 draws / 1 victory 1 defeat (with equal BG difference)
3 pts. 1 defeat 1 victory (with worst BG difference)
2 pts. 1 draw 1 defeat
0 pts. 2 defeats

The really nice point about paired games & scenaros is that everybody has the same "battle groups" in total...

Scoring will be covered over the two games, total battle groups less loses. For example:

Marathon
Harry vs sid

.......................Start points.....lost points......points
Harry-0
Game A HO-wins 22..........9 ..........13
Game B HO-loses ..9..........11..........-2.
.........................31...........20..........11

Sid-V
Game A SV-Loses .9..........11..........-2
Game B SV-Wins..22..........11..........11
..........................31..........22..........9

Over the two games harry scores 11 points, and Sid-V scores 9 points.

In the first few games some players may get a negative in points, if they lose both games, but that will soon disappear.

I happy to do the pointing, just need to know the scores in battle groups.
ie game A harry (Persians) 9/22 sid (Greeks) 11/9
....game B Sid (Persians) 11/22 Harry (Greeks) 11/9

For each scenario do we only play the one opponent & then a different one for the next scenario?

There are paired games, next time different tournment, different player. Will try... to pair each other with new opponents, but that will depend on how long the league lasts.

Yes, it is possible. I always test my scenarios before editing them, just launching open challenges to everybody that hasn't still got the modules.

I think he meant the offical scearios that come WITH the expansion packs... Since those files are in a differnt folder not so sure... We could test it .... Howver i own all the expansion,,,,, is there an expansion you dont own? if so i can send you a challenge and see if you can take it....

Right but those were custom scenarios... Only one way to find out, Deeter , issued you a challenge from one of the SaS official scenarios Manzikert , password test
see if you can accept.

Still racking my brain about the point system.
In the way it is envisaged now you're going to give much more weight & points to victories gained in big scenarios rather in little ones.

Some examples.
With an hypotethical win gained loosing only half of your BGs you'll find with a very different amount of points according as the size of the scenario:
24 points of army rout level - 12 points lost = 12 points gained
48 points of army rout level - 24 points lost = 24 points gained
96 points of army rout level - 48 points lost = 48 points gained

That, in my opinion, doesn't seem really fair because in each situation you won the battle with the identical share of losses.
This would also affect the accuracy of the rankings given the fact that some gamers may chiefly or randomly play more "little sized" scenarios while others "big sized" ones ..

To get round this you could use the percentage you won by, rather than the actual bases. That way the size of the scenario is irrelevant.

e.g. a 55%-100% victory would give you 45 points.

Both good points...

Be interested to hear your views on the following idea, although I like to keep the tournment scoring the same.

However, perhaps we will need a different way of posting to a "on going league", perhaps by percentage as suggested by Fern.

We need to give this some thought.

Harry-0
Game A HO-wins 22..........9 ..........13
Game B HO-loses ..9..........11..........-2.
.........................31...........20..........11 .....35%

Sid-V
Game A SV-Loses .9..........11..........-2
Game B SV-Wins..22..........11..........11
..........................31..........22..........9 ........29%

11 points tournment would equal 35 points for the league
9 points tournment would equal 29 points for the league

How that looking.....

Oops

Sorry, but my earlier post is incorrect. I do have S & S, so the tesst game with TGM would prove nothing. I didn't pick up Legions Triumpnats, so we should test a scenario from that.

If that doesn't fly, a workaround would be to convert the scenario into a custom scenario to be downloaded by those that need to. Another thought though: not a scenarios are created equal (practularly some of the player-maded ones.) Some are really innacurrate or just boring, so I hope there is some discreation in which are used beyond just chronological order.

If there are any that should be avoided please pipe up....

I know there are some I do not like the look of... and there are plenty of scenaros, so we can miss them out.
However I don't think I a good enough player to start selecting between them.

So any thoughs on, ones to avoid, and if two or more agree we drop that one.

Looks like we be doing battle then!

Thats good news.

I let you set-up, as you may want to take a few days to get familiar with ROR.
