that late and later in the game the AI will take longer to perform its moves. Also it is suggested to play the game with the music off and sound effects which can cause the game to freeze and is also a resource hog on the Mac.

If you perused the other posts the game can teach somewhat about the game, but it is really about the PBEM that is balanced and most challenging. There are plenty of players. So post in the area looking for a game and have fun. The game with so be fine.
I tried it without the sound and music, no difference. I just left it for about 10/15 minutes and nothing. It just seems to have stopped, no sounds of anything happening although the air attack sounds worked while it was going.

Hmm. Are you running 32 or 64 bit ?
I am guessing here. Nothing was done
Playing the AI with the expansion.
I do not have any experience playing the
Game in 64 bit. If you perform a Get Info on the
App in the Finder, is the game being played in Rosetta ?

Also I am not sure what will happen when 10.7 comes out and Java applications.

Maybe send me your game file and see if it freezes
for me.

Still trying

It wasn't playing in Rosetta, so I tried that and in 32 bit mode, no difference. I'd be happy to send you the file to see if you have the same problem; again it's not exactly a freeze in the sense of the computer freezing, more like the AI stops working. Sound still plays, can quit using Command+Q, just things stop happening. Let me know how to send you the file and thanks for your help.

Thanks for all the hard work. I've been waiting for this a very long time. However I have a strange problem. I had deleted my CEaW from my computer. I reinstalled it on my desktop. Running it for the first time again, it did not ask for my purchase key but it ran fine. Then I ran the GS app. It would not run. Instead I got a message that I needed a licensed version of CEaW (code error=1). What do you think the problem is? My version is from Freeverse and it is 1.06

Hi,

The CEAW v1.06 must be installed in the Applications folder. Also CEAW Grand Strategy must be placed into the Applications folder.

Move them in the Applications folder. There was an update from freeverse for the vanilla veraion CEAW 1.06 a couple of years ago. Go to their (Freeverse) website and download and install that.

And try to run CEAW again. It may ask for the license code.

If you lost the license code you can get a new one from Freeverse. I did when my hard drive crashed I had the license, but it did not go through.

So I contacted Freeverse and got a new one and voila' it worked and I am on the dev team...

Thanks for the help, however, I am still puzzled about why it still refuses to recognize the license. I have reinstalled CEaW a few times and never get a screen asking for the product code. I have confirmed with Freeverse that the code key I bought is correct. Yet I still cannot get GS:CEaW to recognize the install. And here is the most puzzling part: I had also installed and removed CEaW on my laptop. I installed GS:CEaW on it and it worked perfectly even though I no longer had a CEaW app on the laptop. Puzzled? So am I. I have searched for hidden files but have not come up with anything.

Hi,

Have you moved the Applications to the Applications folder?

Did you go to the ~/Library/Preferences and remove and delete the com.freeverse.plist ?

Did you update the version on your desk system with the updater from Freeverse?

Another thing to try is create a new user install CEAW v1.06 in the applications folder and run the updater from freeverse. Then try and run the game.

It should ask for the language, memory, screen setting. Then ask for the license. Enter the license and play a couples of turns using HotSeat against yourself.

Now install CEAW Grand Strategy in your applications folder. now try and run that.

You have done something different when installing CEAW v1.06 on your laptop as compared to your desktop.

Your laptop was installed correctly.

Hi,

Is this playing a PBEM, HotSeat game?

2) Or is this against the AI?

I would need some more info on the scenario, game turn, OS you are running, your system.

so for the fisrt time I played an AI game to test an idea - well actually to find out what counts as 'homeland' for Italy in terms of Para recruiting

and when I save and restart the game it won't recgonise the file, the error says it was save din a previous version, same for the auto save - is this a known bug?

Hmmm, sounds like the same error message that I've encountered when I tried to open a Hotseat game via the PBEM menu. It took me a few times to realise that I was clicking PBEM rather than Hotseat  Force of habit I guess :D

Windowed or FullScreen

Every time I start a game I must choose between Windowed or Fullscreen, is there a preference that I missed?

Moreover, after choosing it, it comes the publicity, is annoying after to have paid for a game to have to see its publicity forever: Slitherine, Freeverse, Kameleon, Double Think, Osprey...

Hi,

For the Mac version you have to choose everytime whether Windowed or fullscreen.

As for the advertising that is what Slitherine had for the original version and is for the expansion.

On the right corner of the purchase window there are two arrow buttons that never become actives, can you tell me which is its purpose ?, or how can be activated.

When the purchase queue has more than 8 items the arrows become active so that you can scroll right or left to see what is in the queue.

Hi Enric

the menu/intro movies are just the way it was done for the Mac version. Hope you can enjoy the game despite this!

Cheers

File .data remains open

When playing by email, when trying to drop the received file to the pbem folder the finder refuses to replace the old file because "it is in use".
I throw the old file to the trash and then I can drop de received file.
The trash can't be emptied: The operation can't be completed because the item "xxxx.data" is I'm use. I must log out and log in to be able to empty the trash.

Hi,

Is the game still running when trying to do this? Have you ended the turn and wait until the main menu screen comes up?

Has the file fully downloaded from your ISP? If the file is still downloading into your mailbox you can not move it.

Have you repaired permissions on the main HD?

What system software are you running? (i.e.. 10.6)

No, the game is not running.
MacOS 10.7 (Lion)
The message that appears trying to empty the trash is a typical message generated by a file that keeps open (even if its not open actually)
