to keep a historical feel I would say no to the dropping back, and why anyone would want to stand in front of a unit of scythed chariots is beyond me in the first place, spinning blades of death and all
Not sure you could inter penetrate them and not end up coming out the other side short a few appendages....

Theres a case for LF and for them to interpenetrate LF. otherwise the standard successful historical tactic of countering expendables with LF wouldnt work 0 ie because the LF can easily dodge out of the way they let them through then swamp them with missle fire. jelly of death
