What did you have 4 TCs?
Why no Determined Horse? I would think this is a potential anecdote to some of the other moutend around.
I tend to be in the less artillery camp, why do you like the 2nd BG of Heavys?
No regimental guns? I tend to like these especially in the superior. You do not favor?
4 TCs.

The army composition is not ideal, but I wanted the date of my army to be as late as possible (for reasons unrelated to efficiency). I would have preferred to have used a slightly earlier army with Heavily Armoured cuirassiers.

No need for an expensive antidote to enemy mounted when you have commanded shot. The Horse cuirassiers in this army are exceptional value and as good as anything else when deployed with commanded shot. The only reason I had that one BG as unarmoured DH (rather than Carbine horse) was because I had some points left and nothing else I could spend it on. It deluded me that they might be able to hold a BG of Alasdair's Horse cuirassiers that had sneaked past my main cavalry/commanded shot formation, but they were swept away in short order.

The Heavy Artillery are there as an antidote to massed enemy MArt - deploy your whole army out of range of MArt and take potshots at the enemy army with HArt from out of range - it forces them to attack and their artillery may never get to shoot in the entire game. The artillery caused almost no casualties on the enemy during the course of the tournament, but had a massive effect on their actions.

I am unconvinced about the value of regimental guns because, although they increase firepower, they do not increase resilience. I prefer more troops.

I would also note that Unarmoured Carbine horse are very good value as supports.

How did the GC work for you?

I have heard a consensus that GCs aren't worth it as most BGs are breaking from losses. My games seem to reinforce that.

A GC is pretty useful if you havebig units who get frequently shot at on their way into combat though!

VERY useful for the Swiss - the Beta list did not allow GC, published does. I also think that Later 30YW French, and 30YW Swedes would want them. Basically anything that is not going to stand and fire fight, which is going to want to move large Divisions to get across the table quick, and which is going to want it's foot to charge the enemy mounted wants a GC. If you are a foot army with weak horse you certainly want one against armies like Poles, else you end up fighting on a Billiard table too often.

GC are also handy if your army has lots of 2 base BGs.

We certainly found the GC to be useful in a doubles army.

I normally only use a FC or a TC in my 800 point singles army.

But has already been said if you are going to face a lot of shooting then a GC is very beneficial.

Naked* Swiss Kiels
