I think what is sorely needed here are user created solo scenario's that could support the playing style of the majority of CEAW players.

With that in mind, what permission requirements would there be for creating solo scenario's? A map editor was released for the original CEAW game, which implies that user-made scenarios were encouraged by Slitherine, so I can't imagine any permission issue there. What about editing the GS mod for solo play though? It seems to me that the authors would need to be asked for permission if public solo scenario's were created using the GS mod version of the game as a base.

I know that normally users would use the original Slitherine game as a base for editing, but the GS Mod has made so many dramatic changes to the game logic already that IMO it has become the new base version of the game.

The game editor for the vanilla game will not work with the GS scenarios and will, in fact, corrupt them. However; players are free to modify the GS scenarios using a text editor. I forget who it was and what thread it was in but one person had gone a long way with figuring out and capturing in the thread, which I can't recall, the field definitions for the scenario and map files. Please feel free to open up the hood and tinker all you wish with the scenarios and map files.
