My 28 pt BG of Hussars, bow only average unarmoured LH, rode down a command shot, held a fragged carbine unit for 2 rounds and delivered the coup de grace by hitting an artillery battery in the rear at Cold Wars this morning. All this despite being disrupted and only 3 left ! They were the studs of the day for me.

I was fielding Later Austrain Imperial (Clash of empires) against some ably led Early Parliamentarians (what is it with the Americans and choosing armies that get rid of Kings ?) and my hussars & Szeklers managed to skirmish infront of his carbine horse & command shot long enough, and shooting the shot down to disrupoted/fragged so the cuirassier could pile in and deliver some knock-out blows.

Light Horse can work in 4s, and as I thought the 4" range on 4s outshoots gunpowder armed troops. True I don't cause a death roll, but I do cause them to test, which can lead to a disaster for an opponent.

Just a follow up to this.

I have made Nogai for the Caucasian list, as large numbers of Nogai settled in or wandered through the Caucasus and made up most of the horse archers in Caucasian armies.

I was considering researching the Nogai heavies a little as to appearance, as if I can make some quick changes to the Caucasian heavy cav models I could then offer a separate Nogai Horde line as well. But the Tartar/Nogai list is largely made up on light horse. Does that make the army useless?

Let's just say it makes it challenging, and I certainly won't be using it even though I have the figures already.
