From day 1 the whole point of the editor has been mod friendly aka you can have anything.
But THIS gamer ain't into modding, and to be honest, it's more because I just don't have the energy than anything else.
To that end, yeah, I'd be ok letting Slitherine has another 40 bucks for a completely fleshed out mega mod if they felt like selling it.
Most of the work really seems to be testing the various battles for balance. But the more we play the more we get the design tweaked the more it will just be setting up battles and ensuring they are balanced and not as much ensuring the design is functional at the code level (I would think).
Can't see any reason we can't have expansions for the Pacific and Russia. And of course you will get the Germanophiles anxiously wanting a specifically German game

But I personally think Marines in the Pacific and British in CBI would be more interesting new ground.

not into modding also. would like to invade France and have more Italian units for those desert battles and more battles but without the Germans.

I'd like to defend France. They had the best tanks and the worst leaders.

Well I would hardly describe a single man turreted tank as the best but they certainly are underrated by most wargamers. Love the Somua though! They also had nice looking tanks, the H and R 35s and 39s are really nice looking tanks - not like the Brits with the bulbous turrets and ugly hulls!

You need to read more. Char B1 bis was quite the Panzer killer. Lack of radios and leadership lost the war.

No I get it about the Char B, but you said French tanks were the best and I don't think that is necessarily true. My own belief is that had they had 2 man turrets on a number of their different varieties - like the S35, it would have likely put them in the best tank category. Hard to argue the B1 though as it was pretty much the cut of the litter during the 1940 time frame, unless you throw the T34 in the mix. The B1 was pretty much invincible to any german mounted gun unless you were inside 50m and then the Germans had to hope for a disabling shot not a kill - the 37 just couldn't do it, with rare exception. They were somewhat vulnerable to indirect artillery though, no more than any other tank at the time but it was the chink in the armour so to speak. Unless you had an 88 handy you pretty much had to swarm it with as many hits as possible hoping for that tread to be knocked off!

The 47mm ATG and the 47 on the Souma were about the best at that time too. If the May battles were handled more like some of the June battles (Stonne for instance) it would be a different history book.
Yes the light tanks were light tanks. So was the PZII.
PZIIIs and IVs would not have lasted long if met by a well organized force with radios. And 88s weren't dragged to the front lines as far as I know.

No the 88's were more often than not on site by accident not design. It was mainly 105's that would knock out a B1 (either indirect or direct). And I don't disagree with you tht is was the French army doctrine and senior leadership that failed France, not the tank design.

I look forward to doing battle with you. Maybe Sept 1939 Phoney war and I will be on the attack

That would be fun! Put me down for that

Another one I think would be interesting is Italy invading Greece! At the tactical level it could be an interesting go with BOYS ATRs taking on TK33s!

Im working on a few 1940 tanks so look out for them soon. British, French and German - we can use some of the stuff already in the game.
Also been experimenting with WW1 stuff
Not sure how it will work out - the trenches are similar to the ones on a wargames table where they are raised out of the ground. Also need to work out how the soldeirs can line up in the trench and how tanks cross the lines etc. Lots to work on!

I started working on a modern game expansion. I was originally going to make it mirror real world combat but there are so many intangible things to factor in like IED's, caves, etc., I decided to go with a modern "phony" war like the game Operation Flashpoint so the battles are larger scale. See how it turns out.

Tim, awesome job on those trenches! I am not so sure that a WW1 mode with this gaming engine could be too much fun and realistic at the same time...but hey, why not trying? Maybe we find a hidden gem here!
And really looking forward to your new 1940 models. I think a modd for 1940 would work quite well since maps could be used almost as they are. And with all that artistic habilities i can see around, i can expect very nice scenarios from the community.
Ian....any little hint about what´s being cooked in the oven for us? please? pretty please with sugar on top?

ssouthrey - any previews of what you are working. I'm always interested in others mods even though modern isn't my thing.
Re WW1 - its my obsession so its pure selfishness to make it - for me its like the days my brother and I spent making trenches for our Airfix soldiers! Whether it works in game remains to be seen but remember WW1 isn't all about trenches - 1914 was a war of movement and 1918 was really WW2 with slower more unreliable equipment. There's also plenty of small scale stuff to do - locally battles were very fluid and not just the line up and die massacres usually portrayed.
Pip if you are reading this I may need help with getting tanks to work with two guns etc - I'll post in modders corner when I get around to it.
1940 is a more obvious mod and its also a theatre I'm fascinated with - here's a preview of my Matilda I nicknamed the Duck. And I've indulged myself again by adding a commander.

Those are some very nice models Tim. Great job again.
I just wonder if that tank commander won´t look a bit weird when he stays in that nice straight position with hell breaking lose around him, hehe
Anyhow, look forward to your next models. Thinking about some Motorcycle squad? For some reason i would love to see those, as well as the Sdkfz 222 (my favorite armored car)
I would be willing to give a try to any WW1 modd you can come out. Of course, since it´s way less known and popular than WW2 maybe attracts less attention in the begining..but i am pretty sure something fun can come out of it.
