Do you think my multiplayer and posting problems could be related?

I'll ask our web guy to look in to this, its possible. Can you email a screenshot of the issue to
info@slitherine.co.uk so I can pass it on?

Update: I am also unable to issue challenges. Probably also since the 30th of March.
I get a box: "Please wait... Issuing a challenge"

by Epicouros
...then after a few minutes:
"An error occurred while issuing a challenge. Network connection error (Code-1)".

And as you see I'm still unable to post anything longer then a few lines.
Also since then.

Should I cancel my preorder for SoA?
Or will this get fixed with the release?

I'd hate to ask for a refund of the game, as I like it a lot.
I had no trouble before March 30th, and I didn't change anything...
Also no problems with other games/sites/forums...

Just to make things completely clear:
All my games are affected. Not just specific ones.

I am thus completely unable to send multiplayer turns or issue challenges since March 30th,
and still have the same posting problems, which also started then.

Test...
Nope, still the same...
Longer posts still unable to post...
Too tired to try playing a turn now, I'll check again tomorrow.

I have the same problem in my "battle of muda" against Mongo108
"Network connection error (code -1)"
Other battles work fine.

If you're able to play other battles, it's probably not exactly the same problem...
I can't even put up a challenge

Still, if the problem becomes more widespread, the chances get bigger of something to be done about it, to put it cynically...

If the game used to work for you and has suddenly stopped it is almost certainly something at your end. I know that's not helpful, but there isn't some change serverside which would prevent you posting up info to both the forum and the PBEM server.
My two initial guesses would be an over-enthusiastic firewall (though why it would only affect longer data chunks and not all connections I cannot understand). Or perhaps some bizarre ISP filtering (who is your ISP?) although it is very odd that it would affect cleartext being posted to a forum.
One off the wall idea - is it possible that you have changed your MTU somehow? It denotes the largest packet size your machine will send, but sometimes setting it too high can break some NATs/modems/network cards.
Cheers
Pip

I tried disabling both my Firewall (Windows) and antivirus (Kaspersky), but the problem remains exactly the same with those turned off.
My ISP is Telenet (broadband), one of the 2 biggest in Belgium, with a reliable reputation.

I had to look up up what MTU was, but I'm positive I didn't change anything in that setting. I wouldn't even know how to.
In fact, I didn't do any setting changes at all...

Furthermore, I have no trouble with other online games, sites, or forums, some of which are probably more 'demanding'...
Thanks for looking into this.

I was just able to issue a challenge!
Hopefully, my multiplayer problems are over now.
I'll try playing a turn of one of my 'hung up' games and see what happens.
I'll keep you informed.

Sending a turn worked. Hooray!
Let's hope the other games will now go smoothly as well.
I have no time to check now but will do so later today.
I don't know whether you guys fixed anything or if my problems were just a (long) glitch, but if you did: thanks a lot!

Confirmed: I was able to send my other turns as well.
Phew! What a relief!...
Let's hope it stays that way...

I just got the "not enough data" error again. I thought you guys had fixed this so that the game would check the file before attempting to send, but it clearly doesn't work. What happens is that the game tells me there is not enough data and asks if I want to retry. If I say yes, it tells me it is not my turn... My games folder is gradually filling up with dead games due to this error, probably about 7 now.
