1) you know which army you face & have a great system to resolve the battles
2) battles may not be of equal points per side
3) you know the purpose of the battle & it's consequences and therefore play to suit, i.e. if I lose this one I lose talents / territory etc.
4) diplomacy adds a whole new dimension of positive dealings with others and, often more fun, dirty deals!

If there was a simple campaign system offered (in the absense of any official system) how many of you would take part?
Totally agree with all of the above.

Dirty deals.... you might think I'd be up for that, but I couldn't possibly comment

<whispers> OK, count me in!

There's a new posting in the League / Tournament forum for a campaign I'm looking to run.

I have a simple board game called Ancient Empires that featured a simple battle system based on DBM/rock and scissors system that used cards for which miniatures could fairly easily be substituted. There's also a free downloadable board game with a similar name but I forget where I got it. I have written my own rules (they were published in Slingshot) and these can be obtained from Yahoo! FoG group's files section, at http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/Fie ... n%20Rules/ This also includes some starter files for an Access or Excel database to run the campaign.

Cheers,

Chris

What I would like to see in a Campaign system based on FoG is one in which results are carried from one battle to the next

We've been trying this in the Lost World Campaign - a 2nd or 3rd battle has players loading in their DAG army and reducing the original choices down to the new army size.

Gentlemen,

have you ever heard of the free digital boardgaming engine VASSAL. They´ve published many excellent modules. I´d recommend the Module for the boardgaming legend "Republic of Rome".

Google for VASSAL & engine.

Currently we are looking for participants for a Republic of Rome campaign. This could be linked to Rise of Rome online gaming.

So far we are a community fo 3-4 reliable players. Republic of Rome is a very difficult game and the campaign would last for years.

Anyway it´s a great game by Avalon Hill / Valley Games.

Cheers, Klaus
