LH/Javelin/Swordmen to me, buecause this not an equipment question, I think is most important the horse training and how to mount.
The main point is if at this stage they carried several javelins to throw to the enemy (Jv shooting POA), or rather a single spear used overhead (Light lance?)
If the size of the spear increased significantly over time, maybe the second option is better. no shooting POA, but rather Light lance POA at imapct??

I´m not sure which means exactly "Light Lance".
If it means a rider charging with a spear under his arm, I think this not reflect the fighting way of the Jinetes.
By other hand, Nick has classified the Berber tribal cavalry as "Light Lance", and they fought in very similar way with the Jinetes, in fact this kind of horse riding is taken from the Berber cavalry, and should be classified the same.

It covers all the possible ways of using a mounted spear or lance except
1) The heavy determined lance charge used by traditional Gendarmes.
2) Skirmishing with thrown javelin

Then, Light Lance would be a correct classification for them.

So, are we agreed that Jinetes (and, presumably LH Guardia de Castilla) should be Light Lancers, Swordsmen without Javelins capability? (Like the Moors - and Stradiots)

The "Guardias de Castilla" used a shorter spear than the later Jinetes, but I do not want to make things more complicated, and probably it´s not necessary to show their fighting way.

No - there is enough evidence to justify Javelins, and a difference from Stradiots. Evidence that does not exist for the north Africans.
