What ISP are you on? Could it be some wierdness with blacklists or something similar? I assume you can still access this site even when the MP won't work, which is very odd!

The problem is this is almost certainly nothing to do with the game so we can't "fix it". All we can do is try and help you find a work around that lets you PC avoid the issue. It's almost certainly an issue with some software or hardware in or between your machine and our server. We do our best to help but you have to understand this is not really something that falls in to game tech support!

Hi there, i understand that you are doing all you can..its just so frustrating. If it didnt work at all i could change settings to see if it would work, but since it is working perfectly sometimes i dont want to change anything. I have a question about a text document in my game-folder that is called DEBUG, what is it? it lookes like this DEBUG: GET url=http://www.slitherine.com/PBEM/fog_pc/s ... erial_num= ( serial number )Since it contains my serial number i dont want to send it here, it look like its some loggin information, and there are about 10-15 rows of it first row is DEBUG: Debug timer reset 0,39 [Delta 0,00] can you take a look at it?

Another quick question for all of you having issues. When you first run the game, does the info panel on the left of the launcher dialog correctly fill with info (links to the forum, etc). This would be good to know.

Yes I can see all of that! When i doubleklick on the field of glory game menu ( shortcut ) i am being informed that an unidentified program wants access to my PC, i am given 2 options, Cancel or Accept. The program that wants access is autorun.exe if i accept i get the panel you are talking about, and i can then launch the game.

Have you given access, through the same firewall that asks you that question, to the other FoG executables as listed by Keith?

fog.exe
fieldofglory.exe
fognet.exe

Does the firewall ask you to give them permissions?

One thing I have noticed is that when I go to the Task Manager to end the freeze up...I sometimes see more than one Fognet running...also it has a 32 in its name...does that mean it is designed for a 32bit machine...could it be having problems with a 64 bit machine?

Same here several fognet 32 is running, one for each time that i have tried to logg in to multiplayer.

Just as a note, if you have patched the game, you will almost certainly have to update and/or replace your firewall rules (although your firewall should complain anyway).

As a final test, could you try disabling all your software firewalls and attempt to connect with a clean boot?

Did what you recommended several times...it does not work...there is something else wrong...

In the task manager fognet.exe has fileversion 1.0.2.0 and the FieldOfGlory.exe has 1.0.3.0 should it be like that?

Anders,

I found out that I had multiple copies of the software and patches on my system...when I eliminated all but one copy each of the software and each patch the multiplayer function began to work...try it...perhaps it will work for you...I don't think this is a firewall system but a conflict created when both copies of the software are booting up at once...

How did you end up with multiple copies of it on your system?

I had only one main copy of the software but I had multiple copies of the patches...since as a workaround I removed the software and reinstalled several times...I think I had 3 copies of 1.02 and five copies of 1.03

That really shouldn't happen, Maybe there is a bug in the installer.

At least it works now. I'll investigate.

The launcher is freezing up again...drat....

The launcher? Or at some point in the game? It's kinda confusing with multiple people in the one thread, but I thought that the launcher worked fine for both (all?) of you.

Cheers
