lydianed (Amorite + Sumerian) defeated Egmont (Assyrian) 7-51

The Amorites made use of what little terrain they could and occupied some low hills. The Assyrians obliged by advancing and the Amorites got much the better of the skirmish battle. Some of the heavier Assyrian units got bogged down in the wrong terrain or got themselves into poor positions and were shot to pieces or stalled by cheap Amorite units. On the left, some woods and a few light javelin frustrated the Assyrain cavalry. By this point, the Assyrian numbers had been thinned and the Amorites were able to use their superior numbers to isolate and finish the job.

an exciting match up with a challenging battlefield.
a deep stream separated the armies...both sitting on high hills, gazing across the water at each other. the match began with both armies taking up firing positions and loosing massive barrages of arrows. The syro canaanites sent a force of light chariots to cross the river on the left flank, along with some egyptian warriors, and then sent skirmishers into the swamps along the river. the assyrians marched their guard units and heavy chariots at the flanking force, eventually defeating it in total

meanwhile the shooting war continued in the center and right flank, with the syro canannites getting the better of it with a mass of bowmen. the raw assyrians that protected the hill began to falter, and as the sun hung low, the syro light chariots forded the river to hammer the fragmented assyrians. the syro-canannites began to hit the engaged assyrians in the swamp and deep stream. The assyrian guard units marched back to the center in an attempt to save the day, but it was too late, as the syro bowmen and chariots had fully crossed the river and taken the highground.

A large ridge dominated the map but after some skirmishing the armies clashed. My troops managed to get an advantage after being down in the early stages. Thanks for the game.

Stew101 (Romans & Numidians) defeats Frederic02 (Romans & Nabateans).
Score 54 to 29%.

A tough Roman civil war encounter.
Really not much in the match, but the difference lay in the mediums vs bowmen available to each list.
The mediums ultimately proving of greater value for contesting the close combat, over a large hill that was the focus of both sides.

I claim a win by default because it took more than three days for CURRY to accept the challenge. I notified this in a PM at the time.

Cherebuschka (Furor Gallico) narrowly win against Jorgito (Desperta Fero), end score 53-69

So the Carthaginian win at Zama but with a very pyrrhic victory.
Many thanks to Jorgito which made time tonight to finish before the deadline, one of my favourite battle of the tournament.
