Can you check whether they have the DPI scaling turned on? Right click on the desktop, choose Display Settings, and see that the dropdown underneath Scale and layout is set to 100%. If it's not then please change it so that it is, and then try both the 'real' game EXE and the debug EXE again.

Thanks! I am sorry about all the steps, but this is not something that happens on any W11 machines that I have access to. I think they have turned something newly on or off by default.

Sorry, didn't realize you had replied and it had created another page in the discussion.

Yes, the screen rez was at 125%. I changed it to 100% and tried to load the game and was able to get all the way into a multiplayer game under my account. I existed and tried to reload the game to try a local/single player game and now ... the the game is back to locking up with the progress bar not quite finished and music playing. ARGH!

i think i'm going to uninstall BA2, steam and then reinstall both and the DX9 and try again. maybe tomorrow before the next report.

Are you sure you ran the new version the second time, and not the 'standard' Steam version? If you did run the newer version, can you please C+P the error log.
