kevinj wrote:Thanks Hammy, I wasn't so much thinking of the height/move relationship (and I won't get drawn into a discussion about whether skirmishing armies should be given any chance :) ). What I thought might cause some odd effects is the relationship between the moves and the size of bases, such as how nuch forther you have to move to get past someone or how much you move in an expansion. But as I said it's more curiosity having never tried it.
As far as I am aware the only significant issue that has appeared in 25mm games with 1 MU = 1" is fitting a pike formation infront of the camp which I think can't be done (4 ranks of pike = 80mm, camp = 160mm)

Surely 240mm is 9.5 inches give or take?

There is one effect that is relevant to elephants, and others on 80mm bases too. An elephant BG 2 abreast does a 90deg turn, and ends up 2 abreast again due to now having to be at least as wide as they were deep. It makes sneaking past elephants harder.

When this occured in one of our games we checked with RBS; item 7 on the FAQ refers to columns turning 90 to form line, but our case was line turning 90 to form a supposed colum... but in fact had to form a line to enable the new frontage to meet the old depth.

It ruined our opponent's day as he was sneaking past with knights, who were then pinned and charged next go by our elephants and went down, thereby losing him the game.

Any more info on this competition? 650 or 600 points?

I would be struggling to bring much terrain down - would that be a problem?
