The advance of Indibil's Byzantines has been dealt a blow, as they stumbled over Stew101 roving band of Huns.

The Bizzies clearly didn't want to pay a bounty and have the Huns move on peacefully and decided to get all fiesty.

The Bizzies fielded a large cavalry contingent, with just 4 legionary units to bolster their advance on Ravenna.
They set up with a large lancer centre, flanked by legionaries, supported on both flanks by strong contingents of horse archers & more lancers.

The Huns set up with a strong cavalry centre, supported on both flanks by lighter horse and more cavalry. Each sector was supported by a minimum number of lancers.

In a close match the Hunnic left held long enough for their right and right centre to amass a win.

Result 27 - 52 win for the defending Huns.

franks caught in completely open terrain , and once the few Frankish horse on their right flank were run off, the PBI was minced by unlimited vandal lancers

no doubt why war bands turn into shield walls or defensive spears, you need the pointy bits to stop the heavy horse
