I'm confused (not necessarily a new condition). On turn 18 I captured both of my opponents supply points and while I didn't expect a fireworks display, I did expect a significant increase in my points and that didn't happen... nothing, nada, zip. Additionally, in all previous games, when they ended, I was offered the opportunity to save a replay of the game and this time that didn't happen either. Could someone please explain.

@Dolphin0810,
Hello,
It's your turn to play...
I hope you feel well...
Do you have some connections issues like me last week ?
Regards

A number of us have had this but it seems to be ok again now.

+1 to conboy's comments about having both open and invitational tournaments.
I agree too with invitationals AND open tournaments.
But if they arise at the same period of time, it would be interesting in my opinion that a single player choose what kind of tournament he wants to play, not both allowed together

IMHO it wouldn't make any sense to run them simultaneously. Making experienced players choose between invitational and open would almost certainly see them accept the invitation. If one can play in both, experienced or no, some people do have problems completing all their turns so giving "double the workload" would only potentially make that worse?

Plus speaking personally, I would rather have the pleasure of (separate) ongoing competitions over a longer period than a shorter more intense period of overlap.

Perhaps we could introduce a first round seeding-type system for invitationals? Of course, shouldn't ranking be used for this anyway?

And/or perhaps have specific tournaments for the less experienced where you can only enter if you have below a certain rank score?

I also wonder how ranking may work out given what I suspect are radically different numbers of ranked non-tournament games played by different individuals. Hopefully if it works well it should be self-balancing but I'd suggest it needs monitoring in case. Perhaps a separate rank/score list for tournament games played only, as well as a more general ranking?

Sorry forgot to say specifically during the above message that another point int he argument against forcing a choice is that an open competition is hardly that if all the best players are playing in a separate competition instead, and non-invitees might actually want the challenge of tilting at the supposed "better" players.

I wonder if ålayers are matched by random?
I think it would make sense to use new rates for the round and the posisitons (no 1 vs no2 etc) for rounds 2 and 3.
Should make for better balanced matches.

I think that is what they currently do for rounds after the first.

Excellent observation. Erik has several fun 2v2 that may only need their turns and Victory Conditions adjusted…

Also still hoping for 2v2 team tournament…

Muddy fields would be perfect and a very different game

Hello,

There is something i don't understand in the scoring of round 2

My opponent (Dolphin0810) and I had both connection issues (at least it's true for me) for some days so we were unable to finish our games in time.

The last turn i played (turn 11) i saw a score of about 80 in each of my games. My opponent got quite the same scores in game.

So why got i a final score of 125 (80+80=160 ???) and my opponent a score of 67 (38+29 ???)

If someone can explain to me i would be very grateful

thanks

Good luck with that Amenhotep... I'm still waiting for a response to my scoring query from a week ago.

Don't ask me about the exact mechanics, which are as clear as mud - but I can see looking at the tables that our opponent was classed as timed out in that game (the small t by their scores) so his score would have been reduced, and you would have been given some kind of par score. As is argued elsewhere by many people, this is something which is still badly flawed as it can mean that people have their actual achieved scores in partial games reduced, which is patently very unfair. (and yes as a personal victim of that more than once I would say so!) .

This whole complex issue of unfinished games - timing, evaluationg/penalising and scoring for them -really needs to be thrashed out and settled properly. Could we perhaps have an officially sponsored thread to discuss and settle this very thorny problem?

Excellent point Netballman, I've got to admit that I didn't considered that my opponent might not submit their last turn although, in retrospect, I can see where loosing 3 of 4 supply centers might be sort of discouraging.

The upside is that, if I had been awarded points for capturing those 2 supply centers, this round I would be playing someone ranked higher than rth and lord knows that rth is tough/humiliating enough. It's not going well. :oops:

:mrgreen: hang in there roywfw, If there's one thing people should learn about this game, it's that you should never be overawed by anyone, and never give up. We're all human, and the players who score best usually take the biggest risks. This also means they risk the biggest downsides if they get it wrong.. 8) Anyone can beat anyone on their day!

@shards
Sorry if i played theses games like a donkey 😁 and you didn't perhaps enjoyed much against me. Sorry!
To answer your question in game : YES, my bunker cleared the minefield and it was intentional. No choice to have my tank try to protect since the Mathilda is VERY slow
Anyway congratulations with your GREAT victory 🙂

@all
There is indeed some questions about this scenario/tournament :
1) i was'nt able to see the replay of the turn where my opponent got one of my gold point (me playing as german). The game disapeared from my list before that...
2) Where i played british, my paratroops landed with no supply !!! Is it a bug or missed i something...? 🤔
Of course in these conditions they were totally awfull 😢

It was a fun game! I was just very amused to see the bunker rotate in place to clear that minefield at the end! Somewhat unconventional ;-)

I think the para's had the usual 3 turns of cached supply didn't they? I didn't see any red dots on them in my turn.

For the game disappearing from the list... hmm, that could be a bug, you should always get to review the last turn and save a replay if you wish

No. The para's were out of supply (darkened orange dot) from the next turn after their arrival

I had this same problem with one of my games with ussarz - I never got a final screen or victory report playing as the germans - I got a reminder email saying the match was over but the game was no longer on the pbem list.
