The battle started on the Median right wing with an offensive of the Urartian cavalry sided with light troops against the Median Cavalry, soon supported by sparaba and bowmen, while the rest of the Uraratian army assaulted the hill on which the Median infantry was staying. The Median managed to repel the Urartian cavalry and to counter attack thanks to the bowmen support while the attack on the hill stalled.

The sea blocked off all the left flank, despite efforts to shift away from that (reroll ended with a nearly identical field ). A large plateau strewn with rough and scattered wood dominated the right half of the field leaving a narrow plain to the sea.

We deployed a long line of lights across our front backed by three large blocks of our foot. Our noble horse formed a mobile reserve to the rear. Our plan was to aggressively advance our light screen to engage his expected light hordes then try to close in with our heavier infantry to kill them off. Our horse we would commit once we saw some holes opening up.

The Numedians deployed a large block of imitation legionnaires next to the sea and then extended this with a line of mixed irregular and Phoeni foot, screened by a long line of light foot and horse. Their second line didn't extend quite as far onto the plateau, initially, as ours did.

The opposing skirmishers swept forward and hot mix of shooting and melee spread all along the front with the opposing heavier foot advancing behind to support and look for openings to appear. I think I had a bit more light foot which resulted in one or two of his light horse breaking through the line and pursuing the routers through gaps into my rear. On the other hand, I slowly gained the upper hand as after impact, the foot tended to do better than than the horse so we slowly were coming out ahead in this fight. We shifted our noble horse to the far right to help polish off some of his light horse holding the end of his line and locked in melee with our lights.

As the lights evaporated, our heavier foot pitched in on both sides up and down the line and a more intense level of fighting began with losses on both sides. His imitation legionnaires had an edge over my opposing foot, but then my foot had an edge on the rest of his along the line, so it was very much a case of push and shove until holes opened up due to push backs or breaks which provided flanking opportunities sometimes.

In the meantime, my noble cavalry swung the battle on the plateau crushing his light horse and chasing away or running down opposing light foot creating more openings for my foot and his left wing got swept away. This led to the enveloping of his center and tipped the balance our way for the win.
