A good central Hill for the Carthage side which was used to gain the edge in my game as Carthage but in the other game IMC kindly came off the hill and engaged on unfavourable terms as I swung towards his right flank backed up with Roman Cavalry that managed to gain the upper hand in the Cavalry duel. To very different games on the same battlefield and different approaches. Ian thank you for the games and good humor in game, a very enjoyable person to play.

The Samnites bravely stood on a hill, and hid in a Marsh, until the time was right to sweep down and disrupt the Carthaginian formations. The Samnite elite troops were very resilient in the face of the Carthaginian spears and some lucky manoeuvring around some rough ground managed to break one of the heavy chariots flanking the main position. A battle in the open would have seen the Samnites destroyed.
