Mine was Eastern Front on an old Atari 800XL in about 1981. Or on paper, the original SPI War of the Ring in about 1980.

wow! to own a pc in 1981 it's like own your own private jet nowadays...

We had to sell the jet and a small, but exquisite, collection of miss-shapen monkey skulls, to a travelling Willbury in order to buy the Atari. Of course I learned everything I know about computers with that old machine. Sadly BASIC and VBIs aren't quite as popular as they were back then and now we have those new fangled dot products that make no sense to anyone with half a brain.

I had that game, along with Panzer Leader and Squad Leader - I loved them and wish I had never gotten rid of them. Live and learn...

Panzer leader and squad leader are available on ebay for purchase....amongst many, many other cardboard games

My first personnel computers were a Commodore 64 (1982) and an Apple 2 (the later bought in 1978 50/50 with another student with my summer jobs pay) and my first game was "Startrek" were the space map was printed at each turns. You had to find and kill the Klingons, using phasers and torpedoes...
