I ran Mamluks with 2 BG's of 4 Elite Horse Archers. That was fun :). I lost, but it was still fun :).

I think that the Hefalump Huns is a good option. Giving you the 'kight killing' power of the Elephants and the Hunnic power of the Huns. The only problem you would have would be against Drilled Knights.

But come on - how low caste would you have to be to be Drilled and wear plate armour? Real men wear chainmail, and practice swordsmanship not prace around a drill square 'left turn / right turn' like a bunch of nancies (unless they are Greek nancies of course).

Yes, they didn't have to charge the elephants as in they didn't have to pass a CMT or anything. It was just that they were going to be charged anyway and there was a unit of Cav getting to their flank.

PS. For anyone gaming Ilkhanids and Mamluks, I am working on a scenario for the battle of Ain-Jalut, 1260, and 2nd Homs, 1281. I should have the first done and posted in the next day or two, sunday at the latest.
