The village is only compulsory/mandatory in "developed", in which case the player with initiative must "choose" it and it can be of any permitted dimensions. The player without initiative must then choose an enclosed field of any allowed dimensions.

In any other terrain type where a village is an option, it can only be chosen as one of the additional 2-4 pieces by the player with initiative and it must then be of the smaller allowed dimensions, ie bigger than a 6MU x 4MU rectangle and be able to fit within a 12MU diameter circle.

Thanks for the clarification. We have certainly NOT been doing it that way :(

If the village is mandatory, the initiative player MUST choose it?

John
That is correct.

Hi everyone

Just re-raising this as I have a question.

If I choose developed and take a village does that mean at 800 AP I only have 1-3 selections left?

Thanks

The village in Developed is a mandatory piece for the initiative player, and therefore does not count against the 2-4 optional selections.

Correct. You have to take it and it doesn't count towards the 2-4 at all.
