In order to reduce the risk of misunderstanding when making challenges and also ease my administrative burden, I've implemented the following procedure for making challenges going forward:

A challenge is made through the following steps:

1. PM the player that you would like to challenge, in order to ensure that he doesn't already have an unresolved challenge outstanding.

2. Wait for that player to accept or decline the challenge by way of replying to the PM.

• Players are expected to reply within half a week, so send a reminder if you haven't received a reply by then.

• You can also see whether a PM has been read or not; if still in the Outbox, then not read, but if in the Sent folder, then it has been read.

3. If the challenge is accepted, the player making the challenge does the following:

• Sets up the game in the FoG2 in-game Multiplayer Lobby.

• Announces the challenge through posting in this thread (so that all other players know about the initiated challenge).

3. If the challenge is declined or not answered within a week, then there is no further action, the challenge is considered null and void, and a new challenge to another player can be made.

• Challenges can be neither stored nor put on a waiting list or in a backlog, etc.

The rules have been changed accordingly to reflect the above.

Just a friendly reminder to everyone challenging out there: please don't forget the option you have as challenger (that the challenged sadly lacks) to bring an ally to the battle. All armies in the second post of this thread are eligible as allies, if they're also in the in-game list among allies for your army in question.

(Example: For Lysimachid 320-281 BC in the Ever-Green League 300 BC, Thracian (Hellenistic) 350-281 BC is an eligible ally, but Seleucid 302-301 BC is not.)

CaptainWalterSavage has accepted a challenge from Tomoegozen, I shall set up the game shortly.

I was about to set up my challenge for CaptainWalterSavage when I noticed that my Roman list doesn't encompass 500Ad....
Should I pick something else?

Nope, since the army's in the second post, it can be used. So go ahead!

(I have deliberately added some armies ending just before 500 AD, such as Roman and Soissons, to get some more armies and interesting matchups.)

We switch armies, as always after a game is concluded, our two respective current armies (Byzantine 493-550 AD versus Kingdom of Soissons 461-486 AD).

In addition, since I'm in a lower place than Doyley and I won the game, we also switch places (8 versus 5).

If you mean selecting the Hephthalite 350-570 AD as the army to start with, then yes the Sassanid Persian 477-590 AD can be used as allies when placing a challenge.

So I'll add you to the first post with Hephthalite 350-570 AD.

Thanks for report. Since the winner was already in a higher place, no places are switched. But armies (the ones currently held by the players, upon conclusion of a game) are switched though, as they always are after a game is concluded; in this case Breton 411-579 AD versus Arab (City) 300-633 AD. Table in the first post updated.
