I believe that the satrapies in Asia Minor , particularly Kilikia had access to a large number of good quality local light and medium (irregular?) infantry units.(and may have even been dominated by those troop types in certain circumstances) Is that possible with the lists as you have them?

It's something I sort of remember from back in the day when I took a fair amount of interest in this period but I may have mis-remembered.... :-(

Kilikia satrapy army list consists to 60% of Macedonian 355-329 BC, 30% Ptolemaic 320-218 BC, and 10% Kappadokian 260-17AD army lists, and the latter have a lot of Irregular Foot (29 in 2000FP) and Light Javelinmen (7). And then some Thureophoroi and Thracians with Romphaia. And Kappadokia satrapy army list is 30% Kappadokian 260-17AD army list, so even more in there. But you know: good quality and irregular is a contradiction in terms. ;) And Macedonian 355-329 BC have quite a few of those Thureophoroi and Thracians with Romphaia as well.

That results in Kappadokia satrapy having 3-13 Irregular Foot, and 0-5 Light Javelinmen (in 2000FP setting).

Sounds perfect :-)

I'm not sure that 'irregular' and 'good quality' are mutually exclusive though :-)
Hungarian irregulars in the Napoleonic wars were pretty good :-) (At times...)
I guess it depends on what you ask them to do :-)

But those were Hungarians, and they are truly awesome! ;) (I'm half Hungarian...)

I'm up for this as well, looking forward to a lot of dead Greeks (sadly most of them will probably be mine)

So I'd hate manually and subjectively make amendments to my satrapy army lists automatically created out of existing army lists (as per the percentages set out in an earlier post of this thread), but...

... I really don't like there being so many satrapies having Elephants in their army lists. Currently all of the 24 expect for Makedonia, Thrake, Phrygia, Kappadokia, Armenia, and Atropatene do.

And among those 18 that in my opinion shouldn't are five: Kilikia, Media, Hyrkania, Parthyaia, and Sogdiane. Probably not the three satrapies of Baktriane, Areia, and Syria either.

But question is what to replace them with? Just a 1-to-1 replacement to make it simple.

As I see it, there are a few options that would fit cost wise, roughly, and it may differ between the provinces:

1. Veteran Armoured Cavalry (60FP) in Kilikia and Syria.
2. Cataphracts (68FP) in Hyrkania, Parthyaia, and Sogdiane.
3. Iranian Armoured Cavalry (Bow) (68FP) or Iranian Armoured Cavalry (60FP) in Media, Areia, and Baktriane.

Thoughts?

Instead of having to manually mod in all these different army lists, why not just have everyone play stock Diadochi lists but have random local revolts/breakaway provinces so players can play with different armies every now and then?

As RBS said. I like the setup with these modded army lists, and the work hasn't really been manual until now, when I'm looking at Elephant replacements in some satrapies. Thoughts on that?

If this set shortly after the death of Alexander, I'd get rid of elephants everywhere except for the provinces next to India, since there shouldn't have been time for the Diadochi to have their own elephant training programs up and running. Maybe replace them with chariots in certain provinces where that makes sense. Elsewhere just Iranian Armoured Cav since those could be directly incorporated from existing Persian units.

For Macedonia and Thrace, maybe a 50-50 split between Companion Cav (lancers) and Veteran Armoured Cav. Time period is too early for much use of cataphracts.

I wouldn't go that far and have elephants only in the far far east, but clearly remove Elephants units in the satrapies I indicated, in all eight of Kilikia, Media, Hyrkania, Parthyaia, Sogdiane, Baktriane, Areia, and Syria. (Makedonia and Thrake have no Elephants in their army lists, so not applicable to them.) It seems that Alexander assembled a lot of elephants into his armies (although he never used them himself), and that Perdiccas brought elephants to Egypt to fight Ptolemy. Elephants that Ptolemy took over when the Perdiccas was killed and the army went over to Ptolemy. And there is likely to have been elephants left in Babylon and Susa.

I'll look at the cavalry units currently in existence in each of these army lists, and replace each Elephant with one of those cavalry units. Thanks for thoughts, pompey.

So currently we have the following list of interested participants (thanks guys) to kick of the first tournament of DiSp - Dividing the Spoils and stand ready to start:
1. Karvon.
2. TomoeGozen.
3. batesmotel.
4. deeter.
5. Blagrot.
6. Aetius39.
7. rbodleyscott
8. kronenblatt.

To exactly four more players (in order to get to exactly 12, but eight will be good as well):

'Hoti to kratisto'... Are you 'the strongest' among the generals that the dying Alexander meant to leave his empire to?

Here's also an updated version of the mod files.

Please note: you need the Immortal Fire DLC to make it work.

Of course, you're in, Aetius. We're now 7, so one more player and then we're 8 and ready to go! So to that potential eighth player: 'Hoti to kratisto'... Are you 'the strongest' among the generals that the dying Alexander meant to leave his empire to?

Super, Richard: thanks! Then we're good to go! I'll prepare and set it all up, formulating the rules and allocating satrapies. (We can accept four more players until we actually start, but then there has to be exactly four players; no more, no less).

Please post your preferences for one of the eight groups of satrapies to start with (I'll take what's left after your picks, and if we instead start with 12 players, I may need to reshuffle, but then I at least know your ideal choices):

A: 1. Makedonia, 2. Thrake, 3. Phrygia Blagrot
B: 4. Kappadokia, 8. Armenia, 9. Mesopotamia Aetius39
C: 5. Kilikia, 6. Aigyptos, 7. Syria Karvon
