It is possible but it is more complicated. You would have to copy very specific information from the save file and paste it into the fleet in which you want (In the correct place in the save file) but it is not worth it, I only do it at the end of the first and second campaign when the Galactica is necessary to end the campaigns.

I think the fleet cap in Campaign should go up by 1000 points min

Ok, well I have worded out the Valkyrie and Mercury issue. It bugs out the game because there is no icon for those ships when you are looking at the "War Room". So to get around this, make sure to NEVER change the flagship to either of those ships. Also, NEVER EVER set your Mercury or Valkyrie to flagship once it's in the game.

Edit: P.S. DO NOT EVER DETACH ONE OF THESE SHIPS FROM A FLEET. YOU MUST TRANSFER THEM DIRECTLY INTO AN EXISTING FLEET TO BE THE SUBORDINATE

It's actually pretty easy. Find your officers in both save games and increase their "CommandPointSpecialisationRank" value.
"CommandPointSpecialisationRank":8 gives you 12000 point cap.

Anyone else not able to edit new saves at all? I started a new campaign Deadlock+broken alliance, and if I change anything in the save file it just won't load at all. Even just adding a 1 to tylium will just break the save.

I have a save from a week ago with decent progress into the game and can edit that fine. :(

To help anyone else stuck with this, it would seem when you modify a save game the character length has to be the same once you are done.

Best way to allow adding stuff is load the game, make a ship name with loads of extra characters like shipname111111111. Save the game then edit the file removing the extra 11111's to allow you to add what you need keeping the character count the same. :)

Does this allow 10 ships?

What puzzles me a bit is how the game checks the length, or what it compares it too. I can't seem to find anything in the file about this? I wonder if it's a registry entry or some file hidden somewhere?

One other issue I encountered: If I would edit my last savegame, upon loading, the savegame would be overwritten by the unedited version. If I used two seperate saves, the older would not get overwritten.
