More Elephants and lots of horse archers backed up by the inevitable massed archers and some cataphracts attacked in three formations. A swarm of light horse archers on their right The main body of troops in the centre and a wing of about 6 mounted archers on their right. I tired to hide in some rough ground in the centre with enough force to stop the main army whilst fending off the horse archers on both wings. I had to do some rapid adjustments of the battle line to prepare for the assault and fortunately so did the elephants and cataphracts who needed to avoid the rough ground in the centre. this was ultimately effective as all the fighting happened near the rough ground but not in it. In the event of the Indian charge I had more massed archers in place than the indians and the Indian attack was blunted to the extent that elephants started breaking. The fighting became very confused as cataphracts and elephants fought legions and massed archers. The superior numbers of the Palmyrans eventually told and despite losing several units the Indians were driven back. By right wing charged to drive back some harassing light cavalry archers and ended up fighting the mounted archers behind them. The slow development allowed me to move up some more massed archers in support and that was the end of the mounted archers (camelry helped). Great game that was prolonged by the numerous Indian rallies that were looking like swinging the game back as elephants started swarming back to the battle. Eventually the losses had mounted too far for th eIndians and they had to surrender. Top moment was having to use my cavalry to ZOC lock the elephants and prevent them destroying my flanked legion. Its the moment when I always fear the mis-click that would have sent them to their deaths.

A strange ritual seems to be taking place in Division A where just harveylh (German) chooses an opponent and plays to a conclusion. So far the score is harveylh 4 "The Rest" 0. Quickly moving on to Division B where we are nearly half-way through already! ericdoman1 (Mongol) is the current leader, narrowly ahead of Sennacherib (Lithuanian) with Geffalrus (German) back in third. In Division C, current leader SLancaster (German) has lost his first match to second-placed desertedfox (Russian) with tyronec (German) close behind these two. joggy (Teutonic) has already completed his matches in Division D posting a very gettable target of 23 points. olin0111 (Russian) and Captainwaltersavage (Bohemian) look like they are going to have little trouble overhauling this target as both players have started off with 4 straight wins. Nothing much to report in Division E at the moment, but Division F has seen lots of action with Marvin_the_Arvn (Danish), CyberHetman (Polish) and Kroche (Irish) currently looking to be the main contenders for the automatic promotion place.

Lots of maneuvering not a lot action. The wooded and hilly terrain pretty much dictated the resut of this battle. I was hopping between the hills and preventing Speedy from outflanking me. I didn't want to go into the open to be shot to pieces and ridden down and my oponent didn't want to storm the hills (which would be suicidal). We agreed on turn 20 for the battle to end in a draw. At this point neither side was in a position to inflict some serious losses anyway.
