yet another nerve breaking match against my well known adversary. The match went back and forth several times, and in the end I had more luck (again), but mainly because that banner cart is more than useless.

The legions managed to hold against the phalanxes long enough to win the flanks. Lots of terrain confused the issue and my cunning plan fell apart when the skirmishing went wrong and the phalanxes caught me of balance. A quick change of plans saw the reserves charging into a wood to hold the right flank and the Triarii leading the charge on the left flank. The elephant was largely useless as it was always in the wrong place but the threat was helpful. The legions were worn very thin before victory was declared and a sudden collapse was very near. The badge of honour goes to the Velites that held off some armoured cavalry for three turns (they were in a marsh, but still). Great game.
