An interesting game. The Persian army were encamped on a steep hill in the middle of the desert. It soon became clear they had no intention of coming down apart from two very tentative forays on each flank. What followed was a long battle of attrition as my archers whittled away at his Sparabara until, after what seemed like an eternity, we managed to cause some disruptions allowing an all out assault. This eventually provoked something of a counter attack on my right flank but luckily I managed to get in enough damage in two turns to take victory before his counter attack led to anything. At the start of every tournament I would usually send each player a "Welcome" PM individually, both as a courtesy and so that I would know if a player had visited the forum to see that the tournament had started. I didn't do that this season as the number of players entering is just so big. But what I have been doing is checking off names as players post challenges and results on the forum. By yesterday evening there were just 15 players who I had not seen on the forum and so I sent out individual PM's to them to make sure they were not "AWOL". At the time of writing this, there are now just 7 players who I haven't seen yet. It may be that they are playing their matches already as challenges come fast and furious in the opening weeks of the tournament. All 7 players have entered previously so they all know the ropes. I will wait until Monday morning before doing any further chasing. The reason that I do all this is to make sure that there aren't any players sitting in the tournament who have actually decided not to play. It has happened before, but it doesn't happen every season.
