Karvon Navarrese 1050 – 1154 AD drew with carpenkm Byzantine (Italy) 1050-1071 with Papal 1050-1154 41-29.

The armies faced off vs each other on opposing gentle hills. The Byzantine missile superiority slowly wore away my light skirmish line protecting my medium and heavy foot. Both attempted to turn the opposing left flank. The Byzantine effort was driven back through a combination of crossbow fire and knights. Our flankers rode all the way around the Byzantine hill position and fell on their left in support of our victorious, after a fashion, right. Just before night fall there was a general engagement with the infantry in the valley in which we came off a little worse, but dusk prevented either side from exploiting further opportunities.

markleslie - Parthian 250BC-225 AD with Seleucid allies defeats Aetius39 - Syracusan 412-281 with Kyrenean Greek allies 60-52.

What can I say, a shitfull battle that feels like a loss even though I won. All credit to my opponent who in the short time I've known him has been a constant source of pain and discomfort.

Div C

wellsonian (Polish with Viking allies) defeats DirtyMark (Viking with French allies) 48-20. A very fun battle that we rushed to complete. The deployment was weird, with my stud infantry against his cavalry, and his stud infantry against mine. I got lucky. Thanks to DirtyMark for the fun and quick game.

Division A

Aetius (Palmyrans) defeats XLegione (Romans) 61-38

The Romans waited for the Palmyrans to come forward, so the action took a while, but when it happened, it happened hard and fast! The Romans managed to break through a lot of the softer targets, but especially on the Palmyran left, there was success against the legions. A bloody engagement, but eventually there were enough units to overpower and rout them. GG!

Score 44 to 67.

I think the points are therefore:

Desertedfox 44 pts.

A right mash up.
A large piece of rough ground decided matters in the spanish favor.
Their mediums were able to hold up long enough in this terrain, for their mounted colleagues to overcome the Vikings open flank.
Well play to desertedfox, this was a really close encounter.

A draw was sort of inevitable on this map - far to many big difficult hills for both armies.
A few less would have made for a much more competitive game.
As it was we were both a bit cautious in own approach and force selections.

Div B

Morat (Visigoths) defeats Blagrot (Arab) 60-48

Brutal fight where the Visigoth heavy horse initially got the better of their lighter Arab foes, but the elephants then ran amuck cutting a swathe through the warbands. Carefully placed Arab archers sitting on a very tricky central hill then shredded the Visigoths.

In the end, the power of the Visigoth horse was just enough to see them over the line.

Scottish forces deployed either side of a steep hill (which itself had room for a couple of units), Scots were stronger on their left flank which was anchored on another hill towards the rear. Anglo-Normans moved their main forces south as the Scottish right moved North. Anglo Normans left a smaller force to match up against the Scottish right and their main force continued into the Scottish left and Norman cavalry skilfully got behind the Scottish left and began to roll it up.
Scottish forces were getting battered and ultimately their left was destroyed. The Scottish right fared better and got the better of the Anglo Norman rearguard to stay in the contest.
The victorious Anglo Norman main force was in the process of moving up to engage the remaining Scots, but a combination of some timely rallies of routed units and a unit of Welsh Spearmen auto breaking adding 7% to their rout score granted the Scots a victory.
It was a great contest with the Scots hanging in there from halfway through to get the victory. The Scottish force was in far worse shape at the end with multiple fragged units and the Anglo Normans will rightly wonder how they were robbed of a win. GG to grahamed

The Roman Auxiliaries let the side down badly on this one and routed very quickly when faced by lancers. It was always a struggle for the Roman after that. well played Lynx
