Hello. I would like to join DL for the first time. And happy new year !

can't wait, happy lockdown to all

We can knock a few ideas about for a couple of weeks before recruitment opens. These will all be played as mirror matches. My first idea is to have a Seleucid theme . . .

Qualifying groups (Rise of Seleucid Empire) needs 3 match-ups . . .
1) Seleucids v Antigonids (based on battles between 311-309BC and again in 301BC)
2) Seleucids v Indians (Invasion of India 305-303BC)
3) Seleucids v Lysimachids (based on battle in 281BC)

Knock-out stage (Fall of Seleucid Empire) needs 2 match-ups . . .
1) Seleucids v Ptolemaics (based on battle of 198BC)
2) Seleucids v Romans (based on battles of 191-190 BC)

Please suggest alternative themes for me to consider (with a rough outline if possible) and/or any improvements to this Seleucid idea.

I really like the Seleucid theme!

Maybe you could consider replacing the 3rd battle (vs Lysimachids) with a battle against the Attalids (Aphrodisium 238 BC and the Harpasus 229 BC (Seleucid 300-206 BC versus Pergamene 262-191 BC)) to get some variation in the opponent armies, since currently there are three pure Hellenistic battles and each will be played twice, as a mirror.

Hi. I have a issue with my username. It's kglunger on this forum and Dim30 on my FOG2 multiplayer account. I can't change kglunger here on my profile. is it normal ?

After reading the DL rules at viewtopic.php?f=501&t=101085, can a player enter only the themed event, or do they have to also enter one of the core sections?

It is recommended that new players can enter up to 3 sections in their first season. As far as the Themed Event goes, new players only become eligible for it if I open up a second pool of 12 players. This may happen 4 or 5 days after recruitment has opened. I cannot say for sure at the moment. The reason for this is that some new players may find themselves outclassed by A-rated players if we only have one pool of 12 players. I hope very much that we will be able to run 2 pools again this season.

OK, thanks to kronenblatt and sarmation for the suggestions. I have made one change and the Lysimachids have been replaced by the Pergamenes to reduce the number of pike match-ups. The Seleucids will have Galatian allies in that contest. I think it looks nicely balanced now.

It's a nice touch with Galatian allies, but I can't see that the Seleucid 300 - 206 BC army has any allies available in the base game?

I haven't checked the armies yet, but if Galatians are not available as allies then it will be a straight Seleucid v Pergamene match-up.

In the Knock-out stage, you could choose for the second battle (Seleucid v Romans) the default battle of Magnesia.
