I've just talked to Kerry, he wasn't going far enough out. If you play a game and then click forums you will probably still be logged on and can not see the secure forum.
You must click on logout. Scroll down to "pike and shot" game click on it. You will be in the public part and can see "tournaments and leagues" but not the secure forum. You then login with your username and password and the secure forum will appear under "tournaments and leagues".

GD I would like to put a rule suggestion forward: On losing a Battle ( i.e. as per the game a 60% or 40% by 25% more ) the Beaten Army can not move next turn as it is rebuilding.
If you think this is too tough then the Beaten Army may move ( no Flyer Moves ) with 200 points less fighting ability.
I think it sounds reasonable...Your thoughts gentlemen?, we need a majority of voters to carry the change

Talking with A4 at our Wargames Club today and we are both agreed that this Campaign should be over in a couple of turns.
No way can Parliamentarian 1000 pointer armies make much headway against the large Royalist armies around London.
The Flying Columns were not used by many Roundheads at the start hence the huge points lead of the King's men.
We are of the opinion that Flying Columns are too powerful.
Having defeated armies able to Fly next turn seems wrong so I will vote for the proposed amendment.

I don't agree that flying columns are too powerful. They are incredibly difficult to win with on the battlefield. I also think even games are easier to win with a parliamentary army. I think in the next campaign only royalists should be able to use them, and then must use the Royalist raiders army. I am in favour of the amendment that a beaten army must remain stationary to regroup for one turn.

Whilst I agree that apart from losing, (or not gaining a county the losing army doesn't appear to suffer much negative effects. However I feel that saying they can't move for a turn gives the other side a huge strategic advantage of knowing for sure where at least 1 army is going to be. As such, although it may be getting too complex, what about giving them two options;
a) The beaten must stay still, but if attacked defends at 100% strength, (open for debate on the % as they will get the benefit of defending, or,
b) The beaten army can move but is forced to fight will do so at 80% of full strength, (again, depending on what % is used for option (a) this may be open for debate.
Other options I've thought about would be;
1) that the losing army can move as flying column, but only into friendly counties, (i.e. they can't instigate combat), AND if attacked would fight at reduced strength, (see (b) above)
2) that for the following turn a defeated army cannot purchase veteran units and must spend as many points as possible on raw troops. This could be a separate option should a defeated army have to fight, i.e. you can fight at reduced % and get to choose what units you fight with, or you can fight at 100% but with lower quality troops. This would reflect either a understrength, but now more battle tested force, or a hastily reinforced army bulked up with green troops.

While I like the idea of a penalty for losing a battle, the thought of implementing it now makes me pretty bitter, considering how helpful it would have been for me after winning my first battle. Really, despite the early hour, Parliament seems doomed. Setting up a big campaign like this has been a learning experience for all, and with so many significant rule changes, I would rather start a new campaign altogether.
I also have to disagree that Parliament is easier to win with - it completely depends on the terrain. Open maps with little cover favor the Royalists, and hedge heavy maps favor Parliament. Overall though, I think I personally would be much more comfortable commanding Royalist troops, as Impact Horse are hugely powerful, and I really enjoy using massed musketeers.

By powerful I meant in a strategic way. The ability to gain Counties.

Snuggles, how about we finish this campaign with the rules as they now stand, then start again. You and I could swap sides. I prefer to be parliamentarian but ended up a royalist because of a comment I made about dour Scotsmen. I the meantime I'll set up a battle for you and I to play, if I get fields I promise to advance into the open.

County 6 Middlesex
Danny for Parliament (Ian reinforcing) TGM for King with (Lascar reinforcing) =
no bonus.open battle
Border of County 21 and 17
Awesum for Royalist,(Kingi reinforcing) , Kerry for Parliament (Ian reinforcing ) =
Kerry reinforcing bonus, open battle (Kingi can't reinforce as battle on border...Kerry advancing into 21 Awsum advancing.)
Border between Westmoreland and County 34 Lancashire
Doley for King, Brian for Parliament, Kelen reinforcing Doley
Royalists reinforcing bonus. Open battele (Sorry got this one wrong first time...Snuggles can't reinforce as battle on border between Westmoreland and Lanchashire, Kelen can because county borders both Westmoreland and Lancashire...hope this clarifies situation!))
NB (Flying columns can reinforce as it is assumed they move quickly so takes same time to move two counties as a field army moves one county. Thus, in time for battle)

Afraid not Danny you're in the green fields of Merry England and must have agricultural... sorry
You have 1000 pts + 1 home county (no bonus) + equal reinforcing so no bonus = 1000pts
TGM has 1000 pts + 1 hoe county (no bonus) + 3 counties +150 pts = 1150 pts.
Open battle

As I said Flyers are too powerful in the game, especially when only one side can have them due to a funeral in London.......
The Northern Counties are about to concede to the King's Prayer Book to end this revolt and bring peace to this fair land.

Gavin, Kingi has moved to be adjacent to Kerry. Surely he reinforces me, he is as close to the battle as I and avid Welshman.

Does it matter who sets the challenge?
Fair and open battle; agricultural
1000 points Parliament
1150 points Monarchy
Correct?

Sorry awesum, the battle is on the border so Kingi can't reinforce. Ian can because County 22 borders both counties.

Warlord, I moved a flying column from 11 to 12 to 7.
There is no arrow showing on the map lascar hence my query.
