In my mirror game with the Oogieboogie man(alias Rex) the Brits(Shawkhan) of 1661-1685 proved themselves equal to the task of defeating the (Oogieboogie)Swedes of 1649-1675.
It seems that overwhelming numbers can overcome deficits of Generalship

Brits 29% Swedes 56%

Breaking News from the Front " Russian Borscht and Vodka replace Sausage and Lager as national dish in Germany"
Ian's (IDS) hard fought Box1 game2 ends in a close defeat due to a compressed center that failed to bring all muskets to bear at once, and extreme bad luck with the German cavalry attacks on the German left wing, meaning that when the wing broke the centre was overrun .
Ian Germans circa 1689 61 % losses vs GDod's Russians circa 1689 38% losses Win GG D Hussar! Hair raising close game Ian thank you... very enjoyable

Breaking News from the Front "Danish pastry puffs with a small side dish of Swede baked to perfection & served up to the Swedish Generalissimo as a celebratory meal" GG D's Swedish 13% wins against Kelen2's Danish 42%

- Danish right collapses.jpg (191.21 KiB) Viewed 7021 times
The Danish horse was put to flight by the Swedish veteran horse and swung into the centre. In the centre the infantry faced off with a slight advantage to the Danish firepower but was hampered and slowed by their extended line ( the right having to travel some distance to enfilade the Swedish right) Timing, luck, and quality cavalry won the day for the Swedes despite a well fought and spirited attack.

- Danish left arrives too late.jpg (136.86 KiB) Viewed 7021 times
The Danish left's delayed arrival in the centre is checked as the battle is already lost.

At the moment with minor placing games remaining the top four seeds have all come through the box stage pretty unscathed, even with maximum points in his last two games our resident poet Mr Dod still wont haul in the black cat, nor the Doge the SnuggleBunnie. Awesum4 closely chased by Hidde have confirmed 2nd and 3rd spot n Box 3 which the rocket from the Isle of Wight topped, Box the superior rule knowledge of the game god, Mr RBS himself

, tops the squabbling pair of Youngr and TGM with youngr coming out in second place.
Now we just have a few games to round off the final placings so if Box's 1 and 4 can get a wriggle on please it would be appreciated, deadline for completion the end of next weekend 2 April so we can progress.
Meanwhile the top four if want too you may start your finals elimination matches, Pantherboy v RBS, Snuggles v Ianiow. Forces to be used Anglo/Dutch 1689-97 v French 91-98 on Agricultural terrain please, normal mirror conditions as with Box Play.
Meanwhile the ripper of undies Imperialist 49 has beaten LFDLM 61
Cheers Rex

GDod's Swedish 13% wins against Kelen2's Danish 42%
GDod vs Seaport undecided as yet but I think I've wet myself (from crossing a river advancing uphill against French... shouldn't take long )
So in anticipation... a Box 1 parting Song "The Show is Over" apologises to Petula Clark"
The show is over now
Our mirrored rounds are dying
This is the end my friend
There isn't any more
You played the part so well
There's no denying
For I believed each move from units that I adore
I was a fool to feel that beating Pantherboy was real
But how was I to know it was just going to be another annihilation
The field is empty now
The light is fading
And as the curtain falls
My unit's dying calls tell me why
The show is over now and here am I
... To face others in the next boxed set! Congratulations all the First Round Champions - Well Played!

Kelen (Danish 1681-1698) v Seaport (German States 1649-1688)
The German horse where victorious against their Danish counterparts on their left flank, but for some reason weren't so successful on their right, (they really should have achieved the same result, seeing as the Danish horse were outclassed). This and the Danish infantry getting the better of the German foot, (despite 6 of the German units rallying once broken!), resulted in the Danes being bloodied but victorious.
Kelen 53% v Seaport 61%
