I have picked up the Gauntlets of both my Royalist opponents.
Expecting the usual lacy confection I assume there has been some mistake, as the gauntlet of Cavehobbit appears to be made of the finest steel. Perhaps he misappropriated it from someone else or perhaps I am in trouble here.
Doyley50 appears to have been attempting some new ruse, posting a password that took me three attempts to master. Most convoluted and diabolical .
It will avail ye pompus pusillanimous purloining villains not, as God of course,as well as Parliament and All the more righteous inhabitants of Our Beloved Isle are on Our side.

A win scores 1 point, with an additional 1 point for each complete 15% victory margin,
How about adding 1 point for the loser coming within 15% of the winner ?

Nice for the war record of the losing commander, but does not make a lot of sense in the context of the main purpose of the points - sentiment adjustment.
So maybe a point on the losing general's war record, that does not count towards sentiment adjustment.

Hmm, I thought there was, after the first round, but it seems to have disappeared.
There certainly could be.

There is indeed a player score chart - I can leave it in the results thread if people prefer. I'll add a 'Number of battles fought' column because, as Richard pointed out, there are no points for coming second in the context of the campaign

Bonus Points & How To Use Them, Moving Generals and Espionage
Following from various posts in this thread, these are my initial thoughts on a few elements that would create a more strategic feel to the campaign. I'm very happy to hear all and any feedback, suggestions, etc. - these are untested ideas at this stage and the points values arbitrary.
Bonus Points
A region that is Strongly in favour of a faction gives that faction 100 bonus points; Fervent regions give a bonus of 200. Bonus points DO NOT carry over from turn to turn - use them or lose them.
Using Points
Points can be used to increase army strength to a maximum of +200 for any one region. If used in the region that gave the bonus, they may be deployed at the start of the battle, otherwise Reinforcements should be chosen. Points can be 'donated' to other regions as follows:
- adjacent friendly-controlled region at 100% value
- adjacent enemy-controlled or neutral region at 50% value
- linked friendly-controlled region at 50% value (i.e. a path of friendly regions can be followed without having to cross enemy or neutral territory)
More than one region can donate points to a donor region as long as the final bonus does not exceed 200, e.g. two fervent regions could donate a total of 400 bonus points to a region that will only get 50% of the value for a total of 200 points.
Moving Generals
The Commander-in-Chief can move his generals one space orthogonally each turn, regardless of ownership. Each additional friendly or neutral region costs 25 bonus points and each enemy region costs 50 bonus points.
Espionage
A Commander-in-Chief may add a note to his dispositions saying something along the lines of 'Using epionage this turn'. This costs 400 bonus points and allows the CiC to swap two opposing generals that are no more than two spaces apart.

All good stuff.
Though one has to wonder about the general-swapping spies. Do they intercept dispatches and issue false orders? Or do they assassinate the good general and replace him with the bad one. (Whose replacement, unfortunately, happens to be good).

I was on the false orders page rather than using decoys

This just got more complicated! I *definitely* don't want the burden of command now!

Not a problem! In essence it's still about fighting battles, just some of them may mean more than others

Well obviously Keyth already knows this, but for the record:
Late 1642 results:
Highlands: Scots Covenanters (rbodleyscott) defeated Royalists (keyth) 56% to 7% (49% difference)
North Wales: Parliament (rbodleyscott) defeated Royalists (keyth) 43% to 11% (32% difference)

A very poor showing by the Royalist camp, apologies to my co-belligerents!

I'm glad the designer of the game is on my side.
I doubt the gratitude is mutual
