The minor axis corp you got just north of Sevastapol, is it to slow down Morris advance on the fortress? You could just place it near the harbour and transport it back to Rumania

It was my intention to evacuate it all along, but winter weather prevented me from moving it to the port on that turn. Not enough movement points.

Turn 42 – November 29, 1941
The weather is still winter in the east (yes!!!), but it returns to fair in Central Europe. This provides a couple benefits. I had hoped that perhaps severe winter would arrive at the end of my turn, but it did not happen. Waiting to see how much damage the Russians will do this time…

Yes, it was a really late severe winter ,which give Joe enough time to upgrade & recover their effectiveness .After this turn most of Axis Germany units are white & around 95 effectiveness .Severe winter won't badly hurt them as usual

December severe winter is average. Only 10% chance in both November turns. I was hoping it would arrive in the last turn of November too, so I guess it didn't work out for either of us.

Why did you hope for it last turn in november? Is there a strategic reason for it?

See how far the Red Army was from my units at the end of my turn? Morris would not have been able to make hardly any attacks at all if severe winter had arrived. I would've had a free turn to pull back and recover effectiveness in peace.
But now that I think about it, the result wasn't so bad for me (see next turn's screenshots).

Turn 43 – December 19, 1941
Severe winter was likely to arrive at the end of my turn, so most of my effort was focused on properly aligning my defenses. But Morris left me one target far too tempting to pass up…

Severe winter did arrive at the end of my turn, so I suppose I should discuss my strategy. You already saw part of it. I wanted to retreat quickly so the Russian vanguard would outrun the rest of the army, and the slow rail conversion would prevent easy reinforcement (especially by the Siberian reserves). This already resulted in the destruction of a Soviet tank that Morris got too reckless with. Now I am in fairly strong positions, with mechs and tanks in reserve ready to counter any Russian breakthroughs.
The overall goal is to lose only corps, while killing as many strong Soviet units as possible. I know I will lose units, but if I can let the Axis minors and Italians bear the brunt of the suffering, while preserving all the German mechs and tanks and most of the German corps, I will be in an excellent position for the spring 1942 offensive.
I know this will frustrate Morris, because he wants a showdown with my tanks and mechs. My hope is that his frustration will cause him to be too aggressive, and leave me opportunities to destroy his units piecemeal at little risk to my own powerful units. This already happened once, and hopefully Morris will not learn from his mistake
But for now, all I can do is wait and see how vicious the Russian Bear’s first strike is…

How many ARMs does Morris have? O_o Soviet ARMs can be quite vulnerable in early on, so if you catch them in fair weather with your TACs and ARMs/MECs in 1942, you will have an opportunity to deal some real damage

I think you had more mechs than that once the Siberian reserves arrived!

Turn 44 – January 8, 1942
Well, the Russian Bear was not as vicious as I feared, though I think that was more a product of my retreats than anything else. I lost 4 corps, only 1 of which was German. Several more are caught in vulnerable positions, so I will see what I can do about saving them.

I wonder how the Russian tech is after building so many tank units. Sacrificing tech for more firepower in 1941-1942 can come back to bite them.

I think Morris build tanks instead of corps infantry, not instead of labs (atleast ones, he thinks are important - I heared he ignores russian air)

Agree, also look at the amount of leaders he has got. Most likely he has put everything on tanks. Think it's doable without sacrificing research.
But i must say Morris seems to be wasting the russians as well. Summer 42 could really be fun for axis, might see the fall of all major objectives. How is your oil status? 300?

Not great. Will have to be managed carefully for the rest of the game.

Then you will have to take Stalingrad and the Caucasus in summer 42

I suggest Omsk & Moscow, after that it will be down the hill
