klayeckles (samite) defeats kronenblatt (macedonian) 48 18
A very tense battle taht started with the macedonians making a careful advance and a strong cavalry flanking move on their right, while the samites marched for some hills on the macedonian left--beating them to the high ground by covering the move with cavalry escort. initially the macedonian skirmishers chewed up the samites and their allies while seriously threatening the right flank. soon the heavy foot were engaging on the right as well, with samites hard pressed. But the macedonian lancers were intercepted by a cavalry/hoplite mix, and the momentary standoff quickly tipped in the samites direction when a few samite skirmishers, plus a couple disruptions from falling back turned the macedonian lancer advantage into a black hole. chain disruptions followed, and the samite cavalry was around the corner. Meanwhile the macedonian center pushed forward to face the samite veterans. the samites center held long enough for the gaps to open and allow superior samite numbers to squeeze thru the gaps and soon local flank attacks combined with cavalry nipping on the macedonian right led to a complete macedonian rout.
always interesting how lady luck plays in these matches...a couple bad results early (or heroic stands) can snowball into major swings in momentum. GG, well played, and good luck with the samites!
